WOW, what's wrong with this picture? A D&H avatar & great pictures of the ATSF classic scheme!!!
I should talk. I can put up a consist of many other RR's. LOL!!!

We have a few matching sets of other roads power plus my own freelanced road makes it fun. Plus in my world the power is a run threw NJ-Chicago-LA Super C train (i model a what if EL and D&H merger road)

Here's some better shots of that topless Dash 9 in Barstow for some major work. They were getting ready to move it into the building yesterday when we were putting the power away from our train.

Been working on the railroad...

Working on getting the grade installed (background). It will be a hidden 3% over six feet.

It's getting closer to meeting up with the old track.

I got sound installed in the chassis of this locomotive yesterday. It's my first sound loco, so I was pretty excited.

I got to spend the day at the home of Ned Spiller MMR. We had an executive board meeting for the local NMRA Division there and then got to see his layout. This layout was first created in Dallas Tex. and then shipped to Hammondsport NY when he an his wife moved here 3 years ago. he is in the process of putting it back together in what was originally a garage in the house. He is also expanding the layout to "fill up" the available space.

here is Ned at the Throttle:

A couple of his layout:

And some of the DCC wiring he has put in. He worked for the telephone company most of his career:

Later in the afternoon, we got to watch the Seaplanes in Keuka Lake for the Glenn Curtiss Festival. The star of the show was "America" a sea plane Glenn Curtiss built in 1914. Still flying!!! Twin engine (Original engines although one had to have a major rebuild a while back) biplane.

This is the point I'm at on the Plastruct water tank at this time. I still have to make and install the top hatch and the ladder. Afterward it'll be going to the paint shop for a weathered paint job and a black wash.

I didn't shoot every model like I did last year, for two reasons, the building lighting SUCKED and the camera was not adapting well, and there were way too many!

Nice pictures and layouts, guys.

SW, nice little diorama you have there.

Gus, nice engine and water tank. Good lighting too.

Jeffrey, that should be quite a water tank when it's done.

Karl, your custom decals came out real nice.

Ray, I can tell your friend used to work for the phone company. That's a hella neat wiring job. The layout looks good already and I'm sure it will look even better when it's done. I had no idea a Curtis flying boat was still airworthy. That must cost a few bucks to keep in the air.

Josh, thanks for the pictures. Jerome, did you see that BN SW1500? You've got to make one of those. What the heck is the grungy truck with no roof supposed to be? What scale is that Virginian box car? Looks like O scale or maybe even G. Sure has nice detailing.

Jim, you're good, even w/o posting it, you guessed it, O scale!

The truck, is (I think) a tar truck. I overheard the owner saying he had a photo of a truck just like that, with the roof missing and all.

This week I finished up some "re-weathering" projects, or the re-weathering of cars that I had weathered a long time ago... before I learned my latest set of techniques. I didn't put all that much effort into these cars, as they are all MDC/Roundhouse cars with rather crude detailing. About the only thing I did to improve their appearance, in addition to the new coat of weathering, was cutting off the Kadee trip pin and adding Hi-Tech Details air hoses. The Connecticut Southern car (CSOR reporting marks) received a Walthers cushion coupler pocket.

These cars were starting to look rather amateurish and toylike when compared with the rest of my fleet, so that's why I've recently begun bringing my older rolling stock up to my current standards. That being said, these cars are all MDC/Roundhouse, so they will never be on the same level of detail as later releases, but I do believe they look somewhat better compared to their "first lives"...

Enjoy!

I was told yesterday that it was the original (there are a couple still at the museum - I don't think in flyable condition). Upon doing a search of the museum site, I see that it is indeed a reproduction. It was built just a few years ago and had its first flight last year. Except for a couple of "new" modifications, the plane is a faithful reproduction of the original. More info here: http://www.glennhcurtissmuseum.org/educational/articles/america.html

I apologize for the misleading info...

"Among the stops on the solar electric line is the hillside village of Walnut Haven, a place that is forever stuck in the 1960's, with all the quirks of the era, including frequent rail service. Among the vegetarians in town there are some that tell animals an old local folktale about the evening train that comes and takes cows with bad karma to a certain industry down the line...

In my earlier days I've dismissed such as a tall tale, but this evening while crossing the tracks I found myself staring into the gaping maw of an empty cattle car of the Happy Cow Slaughtering Company. The dirty sides of the car had an eerie red hue and I could almost hear the cows mooing."

MTRPLS, those are some nice looking repaints and weathering jobs. Too bad there's so much graffiti but I guess that's railroading today. :)

Ray, no proble, I just hadn't heard of a Curtis flying boat from the era being resotred. Looks like they did a fine job reporducing the look. That had to set them back a few bucks too.:)

Smiley, you're hilarious. A solar powered train going through a town permanently stuck in the 60's :D The cows would be a lot happier on their last ride in a stock car rather an outside braced boxcar. Also, the lack of a door on the boxcar would considerably reduce the inventory and lead to a lot of cows wandering around the right of way.
