I recently put up a new backdrop background. As usual Murphy had to make his contribution. This time it was in the form of one of the background panels being put together incorrectly. Guess which one went up first. By the time I realized I'd put up the one that would be incompatible with the others it was too late. So the scene where the two panels join shows a radical shift in scenery which you can see in photos 4 and 5. I'll work in some scenery components later to make the error less obvious.

That's all for now.

Jeff, those turned out really well, hiccups notwithstanding. It is amazing how a realistic image can add so much depth and realism to one's images.

DJ, really, a very commendable image.

Jeffrey, that background does wonders for you layout. There's always one "whoops" somewhere. :) Do you have room for a real tree at that seam? A big enough tree would help conceal the boo-boo.

DJ, nice weathering on that consist. Was the SD-45 the last locomotive series that the still independent Pennsy bought?

First try at scenic work.

I know this ain't in the same league with you guys, but I wanted to get opinions on my asphalt street and area fill in with the grass. Pay no attention to the trains, they are stock cheapies.

Jeffery, great looking backdrops. I am not a fan of what I call "cartoon clouds". Your horizon looks very well done.

Grampy, another wonderful view. Simply beautiful modeling!

Link Brothers Express owned by Bob O. Link and Curly Q. Link. The sign was not finished so it's just sitting for the pictures.

Thanks, guys. Jim, I believe that's true. No.6174 was built 12/67. So it may have run under PRR colors for, maybe, a year?
Dan, fine craftsmanship!
Bob, street and grass look fine, to me.
SW, nice shot!DJ.

Hey, we all started somewhere. Do you think I post my screwups

Not a bad start. There are many ways to do roads and I am sure others will chime in as I have not got that far yet.

Bob, the road and grass aree up to the tracks looks fine. I think a thin ballast shoulder on the edge fo the road and some road striping and would be most excellent.

Dan, Bob O. Link...LOL, good name. Is that a kit or scratchbuilt? The details are fantastic, right down to that doorknob on the second floor. Nice night shot too.

SW, what scale are you running? Nice train and scenery.

Great start guys!

Trying to make some trees.

No quite what I expected. Will try something else later.:p

Thanks. It's an older, but still made, Evergreen Hills kit. Mostly board by board but fun. Many extras just to jack it up a bit.

Moe: "Didn't you say your full name was Curly Q. Link?"
Curly: "You know my name is Curly Q. Link."
Larry: "What does the 'Q' stand for, 'Quincy'?"
Curly: "No..."
Moe " 'Quillup' ?"
Curly: "No..."
Moe "What then?"
Curly: "Cuff."

Bob: The road and grass look good for a country road. If it's near a town you'll want to add some striping. A center line and maybe a fog line at the side. A thin shoulder wouldn't be a bad idea either.

Whatever I put there can't project out from the backdrop at all as the track is right next to it. I'm talking 1/2 to 3/4's of an inch.

What a great start to the weekend in here! Impressive work and photography all the way around.....

I haven't accomplished much with the HO Scale trains this week, but I did get some night shots of a couple 1/1 scale toys that I get to play with out at the Rochester and Genesee Valley RR Museum last night.

Lehigh Valley RS3 # 211 Hamerhead in her splendor idling next to the little Midway Station (our transfer point for summer operations with the New York Museum of Transportation):

And a shot of Erie Caboose C 254. She was built in December 1946 and weighs in at 48,000 lbs. Yes you can ride up in the cupolla but please do not put anything out the window that you cannot afford to lose like purses, cameras, hands, heads...... Oops! that is my car host speech for the caboose. (Hope to be riding on her tomorrow for Diesel Days):

Oh and yes those are original (probably not used on the specific crummy) kerosine lanterns we had lit up for the photo shoot!
