Spent the first part of the week working at a client's house on his C&S On3 layout. All of the structures are scratchbuilt following specific prototype structures. This layout is one of the tour layouts for the 30th National Narrow Gauge Convention in St. Louis this September. Scenery uses dirt and rock from the prototype locations in Colorado. The "Silver Bell" is the structure that I showed off a couple of weeks ago featuring the detailed screened in sleeping porch. The wood foundation next to it is where I am setting a small house being used as a crib. Last shot is of the grade out of Jefferson track in this area is ballasted with dirt as was the prototype.

Next us is a small miner's house with another screened in porch, this time the front porch. Piece was built for sale on eBay, though I will be building several more for my display tables at the St.Louis convention. Screen in this one is depicted as older covered with rust.

Matt.... As always, WOW!

I was going to post much earlier in the weekend, but I was totally shocked by what Crandell put in here!!!! His layout seems to have been taken over by some diseasally thingy... Actually Crandell, I liked it. So many other great postings, way too many to mention all of you.

I have not had a whole lot of time this last week to do much with the trains. I did install Fast tracks Turnout #3 at the top of Bare Mountain for the Quarry Scene. An overview:

Little closer:

And with my 0-6-0 switcher and a few cars running through to see how they do:

Please pardon the paint can and other stuff laying around the area.... It is a work in progress! Oh, BTW, the tortoise machine will end up being inside a building located, ah, well, where the tortoise machine is...... haven't decided what the building will be yet. I am leaning toward an old octagonal cobblestone building North of where I live. If I am able to find out who owns the building (was once a blacksmith's shop) and can get permission to go on site and draw it, that is what will be there. If not probably just a brick office building for the quarry.

Very nice work!

That I can easily understand. My layout/workbench/project area are all one and the same, so the odd paint can, set of tools, etc don't bug me. I've seen comments from some who seem all offended by such things as if you're cluttering their layout with it. To some of those I'd award the prize of 'Worlds biggest crybaby'.

Mine gets to be the same way. Atleast we know progress is happening and its amazing how things are missed placed when its all right in front of us!..I do pick a night when I don't have time to get too involved just to put some things back and sweep up before it gets too outta hand! Makes me ready to fly into it when I do get a chance.

Well, usually I keep everything very neat and orderly on my workbench..... Like this:

Reminds me of a story I heard somewhere along the way about a guy who's local newspaper came over to write an article and take some pictures... the reporter spent a few hours over there learning about model RR'ing, and took a ton of pictures... not 15 minutes after he left, the owner realized that he left 2 diesels sitting on the roof of one of his prominent downtown buildings!!!

(the newspaper was able to photochop them out...)

Your workbench looks amazingly like mine! However from time to time I do clean it. Usually after I spend 15 minutes looking for something that I just know is there, then the wife walks over and finds it.!!!

Its amazing how fast frustration can turn into embarassment!!:o

Having just gotten a fresh load of coal & water, WM734 is ready for more helper duty!

This shot was taken on my FCSME modules, looking under the highway bridge toward town.

Brad: They are made from an Ace bandage, I distress them with a sharp #11 on the bottom for the tattered look. Works well in O scale, they might be a bit large for HO. One of the best features of them is they will hold a shape, which allows me to have some blowing out of open windows from time to time.

Looks like mine did too before I needed the space to expand my layout
