Looking for old photos done with my -now- old 35mm I found the very first two photos that I've made as a railfan.

In a trip to the desert, September 1999, in the ex Nitrate mines-cityes area, I find this station, don't know the name and the age, but easy this BoxCar have been taking sun for more than 40 years...
It's a sad view, and a hard dead against the dry weather which didnt corrodes metal.

Nice line up Jeffery, that T2a is a beast

Grampys, thats a fantastic scene

Mike, The Archbar trucks show that box cars age,

John, thanks for the video, i'm up that way in July myself. I love to see 45407 in action, i worked as a cleaner / second fireman on this engine on the east lancs.

Some more of my Challenger, Didnt realise I knocked the bell off but I found it and put it back on. But these show more of the detail of the locomotive.

Grampy, that's a very effective and nostalgic scene. Good blend of railroading, scenery, and human interest.

Mike, those are great shots of a harsh environment. That boxcar (or hopper car, hard to tell which) must be pretty old, since it still has archbar trucks, which haven't been used for at least 50 years.

John, nice videos. I sure wish we had some more steam trains to ride over hear. :(

Jeffrey, it's time to run those E units more often - you're getting grass growing on top of the noses. :)

Airslide, nice conveyor belt.

BB, the rivet detail on that Challenger really shows up in the sun. That's the kind of thing you had to buy brass to get 20 years ago. Plastic locomotives have come a long way.

Yep thats what turned me off to them when I was younger. I like detail and these newer locomotives Have come along way from what we used to have.

Back Home now so here are some pics of work done at home during the week

Due to the poor lighting under the main layout at the moment the last pics didn't come out too well, so here are some as nautre intended (sunlight)

Drove myself to Oceanside today to shoot the Sprinter. They're running a Siemens AG Desiro Classic, 2 car DMU set. I think they have 3 total, two running, one in reserve.

Went to the North Carolina Transportation Museum today. Hitched a ride on this 0-4-0 Dockside. She was actually pretty quiet and very little smoke.

We happened to be at the Roundhouse when they brought this classic lady out and turned her around on the turntable, then tucked her back in the other side. Is there anything more beautiful than an E unit??

And finally, 3 of my favorite things in life. Good friends, motorcycles, and trains. Life doesn't get much better than today!! :)

Jerome, thanksfor posting that picture of the Southern E-8. I've been looking for a good broadside view of one forever. Does anyone know if the hand rails and grabs were painted yellow when the locomotive was in service? Which of those bikes is yours?

Josh, that Seimens trainset is a litte too European looking for my tastes but I'll bet it's fast.

John, that harbor scene is really developing nicely. I especially like the seaweed effects on the dock retaining walls.

I've got to get down to the layout and take some pictures. Heck, I've got to get down to the layout and make sure my trains still run. :)
