I'm disabled and can't work. Therefore I'm home almost all the time. I know what you mean about the flash. I haven't figured out the night mode on this new camera yet.
Here's a shot of our East Broad Top coal wash plant and tranfer tower in Mt. Union Pa., on our clubs layout. This part is dual guage HO/HOn3. The back ground and back drop are unfinished because of track work 3 ft behind it. Been awhile since I posted anything. Excuse the focus issues!
I imporoved my water over the past few days. It had been clear flat epoxy. I mixed another small batch, added two drops of "Hauser Medium Green" (Wal Mart crafts section acrylics), but I also added about a teaspoon of Plaster of Paris to get it more opaque. After it set, I added a thin layer of gel gloss medium and stippled it with a wide artist's brush. Here is how it looks. The ligthing is poor because it isn't meant to be a fancy shot, and the blue colouring on the far bank is due to heavily reflected sunny blue sky from a window to my right.
I have been working on trackside details again. Here are a couple shots of railbars I have been adding and then painting the rails. On both of these, the rail has just been painted. I still need to clean up the top of the rails (tomorrow....).
I have also made a couple trackside rail stands. Railroads used to like to have some good rail stored along the ROW in case they needed it. The stands keep the rail up off the ground and easily available for repairs.
This last one points out the difference between the rail on the stand which has been "rusted" and the rail as is on the atlas flextrack.
Jeffrey, I like the second picture better. Kind of a sunset effect. I'm coming over to your place to fill up the motorhome.
Gramps, love that dated arched culvert to the right. It's little details like that that really make a scene stand out.
Bob, nice EBT scene there. Lots of real estate to cover with that complex.
Crandell, nice looking water, especially for being right at the edge of the layout. I like that bridge even better. Very unusual and attractive design.
Ray, I was just looking at some pics of my layout from last year, before I weathered the track and ballast. Boy, did it look lousy. Your's came out especially nice, with the tiebars just adding that finishing touch.
Thanks, Jim, about the bridge and water. The bridge is none other than ME's 120' combo deck and through girder. I just modified the square ends of the major through girder, which they describe as an easy mod in the instructions. I have walked across the foot path beside such a bridge, the centre span, and liked the curved ends better.
