Haven't had a lot of time for the layout the last couple of weeks but managed to make and install labels for each of the toggle switches along the fascia board around the layout. Toggles are located right where the tortoise or other operated equipment is installed on the alyout, so finding the correct toggle is easily learned. That said labeling helps....... Still have some work to get them all stuck down on flat black paint as nothing seems to want to stick to it. A glue stick may solve that.
I also started to install a new Programing Track next to my workbench. I plan on rewiring the "Team Track" to be just DCC and not be able to be used as a programing track. I will get Decoder Pro and start keeping data for each loco in the computer which sits just below the track on a small table next to the workbench. Wires going to the toggle are for building/scenery lighting. Another toggle will go next to it for an on/off switch to p[rotect the programing track from accidental shorts.
camera died at the show today... I'll get a few pics tomorrow. Remember my generator car from last week? It ran great, looks great. All it needs is lettering.
Ray, you are much too neat for my tastes. I like the idea of mounting the programming track right to the facia board like that. Assuming I ever get my fascia board up, I know just the spot to put it that won't be too visible but decreases the chance of a five foot fall from me carting locomotives across the room to the programming track I'm using now. My team track is so short that I don't think I could even get a locomotive to lurch very far to confirm programming before it crashed into that box car unloading refrigerators.
Jeffrey, don't feel bad, I don't even have problems with my hands and I have to replace stirrup steps on a regular basis. That and brake wheels. I don't know where those little pieces fly off to so often.
Well my UPRR acquired some "new used" livery from evil bay...should be getting them soon but here are the pics on some of them....

Sorry about that! LOL yeah you me need to keep in touch on that. I have been really working on getting some switchers for my yard...I cant wait to get this one cause it has a sagami motor and so does the SD60. I have never owned one with such a motor but I have seen them run flawlessly! I want to get some UP patched switchers too but no luck....you wouldnt happen to know anyone that does that do you??? LOL
As usual very nice everyone! I get a little more inspired every weekend.
I actually had some time to dig into the scrap box and concoct an overpass for the town of Huard. It's based on one I went under out in BC last spring.
I couldn't figure out how to do the concrete blocks for the sides then some Walthers sidewalk pieces fell out of the box and landed together. Presto, instant concrete blocks!
