V&AL

Fred's Loco Shop Foreman
"License and registration please... Do you know why I pulled you over sir?"

"No officer, but I bet you are going to be asking yourself that same question for the rest of the day..."

"??!!!??!!!!!!!!"

Elsewhere 4 BNSF units (3 SD40-2's and a GP-60) were heading to Fred's Locomotive Shop for an outsourced rebuild/relettering:

I like your ballast; my recent batch of ballast has turned out pretty horrid. I've lost the touch, I might have to do some cleaver concealing.

V&AL, LOL, that's one thing that never happened to me in my career. :) I like the road and road striping as well as the crossings. Very well done and realistic.

Matt, sure wish I was the guy getting that water tank.

Disclamer:

My Model's on the club layout...

but thanks for the compliments, I'll pass 'em on to the rest of the guys, and try to get the recipe for our ballast.

One of our members runs a sign and lettering business, the road striping come off his machine. He's the guy that printed up the lettering on my E-33's:

Real locomotive lettering. The C&A has him do their stuff.

I was on my way home from work and almost couldn't believe my eyes! Unpatched warbonnet in 2009 in Garrett Indiana! The sun angle was terrible and I couldn't get on the sunny side but I took the shots anyway.

Still a nice catch Joe!! Looks like #940 could really use some paint....sure would be cool if they left the colors though. :)

Some very, very tough acts to follow. Nice work as always being shown in this thread!

I finally got some scale sized beads in to work on my line poles. Here is what I tried a couple weeks ago:

And here is the second try with the new beads and smaller wire for the braces:

I also assembled a Roundhouse kit that has been sitting on the shelf in my basement train room for close to 25 years......

Even back in 1925 we needed to have some California fruit ya know! Obviously the car has not been weathered yet. Other than a little dust and sone rust on the trucks, it will stay fairly clean. I added Kadee #5 couplers and Kadee archbar trucks with metal wheelsets. Rolls nice!

Even more impressive that it's a club layout, V&AL. Most clubs don't go to the level of detail I see in those pictures. I sure would like to have your member come over and stipe my roads. :)

Joe, I guess it's a semi-patched engine then but the warbonnet still looks better when it says "Santa Fe".

Ray, the greeen bead version of your telegraph pole is the best one. Those green beads give the insulators an approptiate translucent look. I forgot how nice those old roundhouse trussrod reefers looked - nice job.

Ray don't you think that truss rod wooden underframe car should be highly weathered in 1925 so near the end of its effective life, after all in three years it would be banned from interchange service. Have to say that I do like the old MDC cars, for their time they were a great addition to my rolling stock.

You fellas make me think I am in a different world when I see your images...they take me away to different places. Really nice modelling. :D

Thats a nice car you've got there. I love that old Santa Fe Logo.

Lotsa good stuff on here this weekend, keep it coming! Don't have anything recent to share, 99% of my work has been on tracklaying and wiring.

...
Joe -
You'd be amazed at where those old warbonnets can turn up - like way out east here in Woodstock, MD:

I sure wish BNSF would repaint some of their units in red+silver as a 'heritage' scheme
