Weathering Rolling Stock, a Continous thread

Reason why I'm asking is if there tier 3 or 4 there might be little or no exhaust visible.
I have been looking for overhead shots

Found 1 so far. I will continue to look. This car in the picture 110007 was built in 2005 and this great picture was taken in 2008 by photographer Jeff Carlson. Picture is from the site

It's interesting how the signage on the Genset has changed from the original onto the model, I would suppose they used slightly different build dates.

And don't forget the handmarks/grime around the Genset doors. :)

Waiting for the neighbor to call to say come over. In the last 2-3 hours we have at least 4” of the white stuff and it’s still coming down but lightly.

Got approval on these. The last of 6 green 25,000 gallon tank cars I have weathered in the last 2 weeks or so.. I hope to not see a dark green car for awhile.

Same 3 DNAX numbers I sent out the other day. Green just boggles my mind. It doesn’t look dirty enough, then it looks to be too much. But the client likes them and that’s what matters. Walthers Mainline 25,000 gallon tank car.

Waiting for paint to dry. An update on the Tropicana cars. Wheels and trucks done. Tried something different, I painted the bearing caps blue first, then rust on trucks and wheels. After putting them together I hit them with grimy black. This gives it a dirty rust look and dulls the blue to show they been on a while. Couplers got rust and the bottom got grimy black to dull and dirty it up.

I like them, looks great.

How many did you do?

Good Afternoon Weather Guys and Gals!
25F and partly.

Was kinda going through pix found this remembering that *somebody* was dealing with a white tank. Cropped from the original and you should be able to make it bigger. Taken in Memphis April 22 across from the refinery on I55.

Thanks Todd. Added to the file. That’s a car of neglect by the car owner IMO. I can see some rust but along the way fix it before it gets this bad. Well, I guess no one will tag it!

After looking at some videos of juice trains, most have a dirt tinge to them. A friend of mine said they do get washed that's why the orange decal and some of the graffiti is faded.
So I did one tonight using powder to dirty it up some. Not completely sold on the outcome.

What color powder?

How do you like the way the car rolls? I am not impressed and the car is light.
