Okay, i'll bite here, I don't model the western roads, but for you Coast Starlight/Sunset Ltd./SW Chief/Metrolink/Surfliner/ westerm streamliners, etc.... modelers, here ya go!

933-3390 Cornerstone(R) Los Angeles Union Passenger Terminal - Kit (Lasercut & Plastic) -- Overall Dimensions: 29 x 21-7/8 x 12" 73.6 x 55.5 x 30.4cm HO 199.98 N 28-Nov-2010

933-3391 Cornerstone(R) Station Platforms - Kit (Plastic) -- Four Sections, Each 11-3/4 x 2-1/4 x 2/5/8" 29.8 x 5.7 x 6.6cm HO 39.98 N 28-Nov-2010

(July announcements under the "Structures" section), just announced, but no Ad yet.

This should make many western modelers happy! I am curious to see what Walthers has up their sleeve this year, with a PRR passenger train for 2011, with a Santa Fe engine crossing above it) Hmmmmm :)

Tom

I commend Walthers for their continued dedication to passenger trains.

I don't model that area, but it would be cool to do a diorama - I've always been fond of that station, and I'd love to model the interior, as well as show the underground with subway station and new light rail areas.

Then again, that would consume a lot of real estate...and I've already got too many projects stacked up.

Great pics there Chris! Being from NJ, my only experience with LA Union Sta., is passing through it a few times, and it is truly a magnificant structure. Modeling-wise, I have no use for it, but I am curious to see the Ad when it comes out. Hmmmm a diorama, now there's a good suggestion, that might give me an excuse to purchase it as well!

I may have to buy the kit, just to have it. Maybe it'll provide some parts to build San Bernardino...

Interesting, I havnt even seen these come through for Dealer Pre-Orders yet (or maybe i missed it :o). This must be part of their July Pre-Order Announcements. Hopefully they get some pictures up soon, they sound like nice kits!!

I can't remember where I read it, but there is an HO model for the San Bernardino station planned. I may have read it in the Warbonnet (Santa Fe Railway Historical & Modeling Society magazine).

In a flat-relief background, that could be the ultimate MRR staging yard for Psg and Mail trains. In the ol-days lots of REA Express cars too. Dead ender tracks would be correct here. The tower and umbrella sheds were nice too.

Looking at the photo image, the tracks leading into the terminals. How do they get the trains in there, do they just back them in?

Some back in, others pull in engine first and back out. This one shows what not to do when performing the latter move:

25 January 1948 - The combined Santa Fe Super Chief/El Capitan arrived on time, shortly before 9:00am. For reasons never explained, the engineer on locomotive 19L, preparing to move ahead then back onto the centre "release track" to head for Redondo Roundhouse, released his brake cutoff valve ... and lost ALL his braking ability. He plowed through the bumper, across the service drive, up the curb, across the sidewalk and through the foot-thick retaining wall, coming to rest when his locomotive bottomed-out, 20 feet above Aliso Street. It turned out to be Engineer Fred Hurst's last run on the Santa Fe. He was relieved of duty and never returned to work.

There is. I talked to the builders, they want $5000 for it! It's "museum quality" not model quality. Besides, I dunno if I can justify a 100% rendition of the station on my layout, that thing is like 6' long in HO, I think I'll downsize it to around 4'.
