Does anyone know if the Walthers transfer table is long enough for a locomotive and at least one car? Or maybe a switcher and car?

no,it only will supports a loco unless you have a very very short loco and car it will not hold both. they will hold large diesels but they will take up most of the table

Does the timeframe or era they were use in? Will it work in the modern era? Will it hold a DDA40X and a UP Big Boy

santa fe's san bernardino shops had two in use into the late 80's..i'm not sure when they officially went out of use though...

Hyundai-Rotem's shop in South Philadelphia has a transfer table. I believe GE's Erie shop has a transfer table as well.

that's a good thing

That's a real good sign than. Because im adding one in front of my LATX shop. I can't wait to get my computer fix to show everyone pictures.

Does anyone know the real deep inches of the transfer table. I want to go get the foam insulation board tomorrow to start my project. So I need to know what depth I need to have the transfer table sit in-between the foam and the benchwork?

Is it the older or newer production? They are a bit different. I have an older model here that I can check for you if that is what you have.

I just saw this at my LHS, and it looks really cool. I'm gonna get one too, my era is 1998-Present modern diesels.

I have heard that they are still in use today!

In the manual it says you have to bevel the rails like how bridge are. How do you make your own bevels?
