Underneath mine is mostly dust and a black hole where things that get dropped go never to be found again. It really isn't quite that bad. Since areas are still under construction here and there I'm leaving it vacant for now. As a section gets finished with wiring, etc then my plans are to make up some simple shelving for storage of extra cars and track maintenence supplies.
mine is a 17x5 blob of just alittle bit of everything, theres office chairs, 2x4's , drywall, saws, unnassembled model kits, old computers, theres even a minifridge under there . One day I'll get build some storage
I've got shelves and those plastic drawer modules you can get at Wal-Mart. I keep all of my out of service cars and building kits under there along with an assortment of junk that probably should get thrown out. Never know when it will come in handy though.
I have a few items under my layout, but mostly I'm keeping it open. That way I can just duck under it anywhere I want instead of having to walk all the way around the benchwork.
storage.. I have everthing from Trains, plastic models to magizines, old speakers and other houshold seasonal items. I hide the items under they layout with a black curtain around the sides
