I am running a dogbone layout with 22" radius curves on each end of the dogbone. Necessarily both curves are symmetrical to each other. I was to add a turn out about halfway through one of the curves. The guy at the train store told me an atlas snap switch would do the job but he wasn't too sure, i bought it anyway figuring I could use it later. It didn't fit quite right. I see a lot of curved turnouts which look like they should work and keep the radius of the curve true, but the packages don't seem to have a radius on them and they are a bit pricey to just buy and try. Does anyone know of a curved turnout which will fit into a 22" radius curve?
Thanks
Despite what you may eventually find in published specs, or be told, and certainly despite what I was told over the phone by the well-intentioned (and equally misled) vendor, the WS curved #7.5 has an inner route that is very close to 21" radius. The literature claims for the WS #7.5 curved is 24"....but it ain't.

The Atlas #4 is a 22 inch turn. I have 2 in mine and they fit perfectly.
I guess this didn't get much attention. Thanks for the replies though. Sounds like the best thing to do is go with the ws #7.5 and use some flex track to make up what difference will result. Kind of wish I had thought of this when making the layout but I happened to come up with a lot more room after the original layout was built.
It really doesn't need alot of attention. Go to the lhs and hold a piece of 22 inch curved track up against an atlas snapswitch. It won't be the #4 but the ones numbered from 540 to 543. They look similar but the 540 series has an inside turn radius of 22". Like I said just put a secton of 22" track against the different ones in your LHS. I'm using 2 in mine and it fit perfectly.
Thanks I also bought the wrong turnout for a curve I'll have to return it for a different one if its even possible.
hmltnblue,
thanks for the response. That's actually exactly what i did. And it looked like it should fit just fine. Unfortunately that is not the case. I think I may have been off just a hair when I compared it at the hobby store. I have looked at some of the 561-564 switches. On RTS at least they do fit perfectly as you said.
