I know this has been discussed before but I can't remember the details.
I have read and tried to understand the standards as laid out by the NMRA on the internet and I am now more confused than ever.
My question: I have need of a few turnouts but I don't know which ones I should get. I am using HO code 100 track.
I would like to maintain a minimum of a 24" radius. OK, I know, I know, all about there not being a true radius but someone out there must be able to steer me in the right direction.
A bit of timely advice would be much appreciated, I got to get started laying track.

Mac, are saying you want to maintain a 24" radius on the diverging route? That's tricky because not all switches are made equal. For example, Atlas #6 switches have a 22" radius diverging route curve while #8 switches have about a 25" diverging route curve. A #6 switch can be made to have a 24" radius diverging route with some flex track but you'll have to watch for kinks. If you're up for the math, a complete set of instructions on how to calculate diverging route radii can be found at http://www.virtualrailroader.com/diverge-calc.html
