I can't beleive no one started this.

Around these here parts, Turkey Day is not the main holiday this weekend. No it's not Black Friday either. Anyway, the Lilliputians know what I'm talking about.

I found this and a brick building on Ben and Jerry's website. I can't say I'm impressed with the result, it is a little small, but it looks better than the photo. I was planning to use paper models as place holders while I investigated the structures, so I'll use it for temporary.

While the above took upwards of 4 hours, the one below, was already colored, if cartoony, and took only about 25 minutes.

Anyway, I think there is some potential with paper models--they're cheap and allow me to get something up quickly. Do you guys know of any other better ones out there?

Nice looking placeholders Chip! Wish I could remember that orugami link that somebody once told me about, but I can't seem to find it. The only one I have is for a laser-cut paper kit company, and they charge $30 for a paper depot - no thanks!

For once, even I have something to share!:D

These are two of the 4 Atlas Trainman PS-2 2-bay covered hoppers that I am upgrading from 2300 cu.ft. to 2600 cu.ft. The unmodified ones are too short [vertically] for my era. You don't need to be a rivet-counter to see that the ACF 2-bays they couple to would be 18 scale inches higher, unlike anything I've seen in the proto photos.

The one at the top of the picture is in an earlier stage of completion, with the top part of another cannibalized hopper cemented onto it. As you can see, there are many gaps - so on the bottom unit, I've replaced some vertical braces with like-shaped Evergreen sections, and covered the broad flat areas with 0.005" sheet styrene. (Still need to find a non-solvent cement to attach them with though...)

Does it come with a pint of Ice Cream too?

Wow Ken, that looks awesome! I can't wait to see the finished result!

Chip, great start to the "long" weekend. I've gotta work tomorrow, not that I'll be doing much. Going to brave the masses and try to get into Wal*mart for a computer for my wife, and some glue for myself.

I like venison in saugage.....mmmmmmm. Nice and creative image, Chip. I think I might tackle one of the printable card structures that were linked 'over there'.

Nice work on the hopper jbaako. Looks smooth and nicely measured and fit.

This is my latest acquisition. The Trainmaster looks beefy, to my eyes, and I like its lines and long trucks. Also, I needed another N&W for what will be my Christmas present...a PCM Y6b. I would not have purchased the FM if I hadn't seen an eye-popping price for this QSI version. Anyway, here it is, N&W coal hoppers and all.

Already thinking of christmas, I am getting a Twr 55 (Company Renames now if you havent heard) CP ES44AC with sound/DCC. And a RipRoar Creation Station video camera/green screen video editor.

Sweet T55 ES44DC! I hope my wife bought me that BNSF New Image one I sent her the link to.

Eye level view when sitting in my computer chair, this would be directly behind me as I type (unless I'm on wireless).

Thanks for the correction, jbaakko. (and for not pointing out that I had mistyped your name. My apologies for that error.)

Ken L, I offer you my compliments and regret my error.

FAst start to the weekend. Lots of top pics posted already.

I managed to finish my retaining walls finished this week. (The section that gets smaller along the road)

John, you're going to have to add on to that shed pretty soon. At the rate you're going, you'll be finished by Valentines Day. Nice work on your layout. I enjoy watching you move along so quickly. The quality of work doesn't seem to suffer from the pace either. Thanks for sharing.

The devil is in the detail or so they say, hours of fun left yet. For example its taken me as long tonight painting the road as it did to make it !!!
