Trying out a micro layout (or close to one).

Here’s a few pictures of the new stuff I obtained at the train show yesterday.

The Odyssey tanks were something I saw on Ebay and was going to order but luckily I found them at the show hidden in other stuff. I’m planning on using these to represent tanks used for CO2 storage/delivery for the bottling plant.

I had trouble finding 48’ and 53’ van trailers so I ultimately ending up going with a pair of 40’ ATSF trailers I found. I didn’t care for these too much but I figured I could probably weather them or patch them to what I would like. Regardless, I’m glad I found something

Still working on those small details but as I was doing some work today, I caught another local passing through

I managed to find a few minutes to glue down the Scenic Accents News stand set I purchased at the train show last weekend.

I’m also reconsidering constructing a scratchbuilt piping system for unloading the flour at the bakery. I may just go ahead and use the leather cording I have to create a few hoses that come directly out of the building.

I have two items I’ve ordered which should be the last things I’ll buy for the layout to consider it “complete”. I might buy a few more vehicles if I find some I like.

The first item I purchased is another 45’ trailer for the bottling plant and the second is a Bachmann track cleaning car. I’ve never purchased a cleaning car before so I wanted to give it a try.

Yeah, it is lol. For the life of me couldn’t find another bus so this was the best I could do. I figured for a couple bucks passengers could just deal with it lol.

I’ve gone ahead and cut a few short pieces of the leather cording to be used as the unloading hoses for the bakery and bottling plant. I ultimately decided to just use the hoses instead of scratch building an unloading apparatus. To show the metal coupling on the hoses, I dipped the ends into some Testors Aluminum colored enamel paint. It’s a little difficult to see in the picture.

I also went ahead and painted a concrete base for the gas pumps at the service station.

Here it is! The last item to be ordered for my N scale layout. I wanted one last trailer for the bottling plant and I found this one for a decent price.

Once I actually have free time this coming week, I will go ahead and finalize those last little details.

I’ve installed the two unloading hoses for both the bottling plant and the bakery complex. I still need to manipulate them a little as the material I’m using (leather cording) wants to bend back towards the rails and it keeps getting in the way.

I decided that I have all the details i’d like for my little layout, at least for now. I’m going to call this project “completed” and begin preparations for my next project.

This was a fun little layout to build and I hope everyone enjoyed following along. See you in the next project thread
