Tell us how big your train room is... Im curious to see what most of us have in the way of train room sizes :D

After you vote, tell us what you voted for :D

My entire basement is 800 square feet. Since my layout is in the basement, I guess you could call that my train room. Unfortunately, I only get one small corner for the layout so it's an around the wall that's 12' long with two four foot blobs on the end. It's not much but it's all mine. :)

I forget exactly what it is, but I have about 8 x 10 room that is a workshop. All I have up is a 2 x 8 foot piece of foam. Still haven't put any track down. Working on some dioramas. I may wrap it around the room, but I am a poor college student and can't afford more stuff.

where's the "this thread is worthless with out pics" emoticon when you need it :D

my room is the top shelf of our closet, all my boxes fit perfectly :p

My layout room is 17' X 23'

I also have a room for my shop which is about 10' X 14' which also includes to hidden 6 track staging yards, one for each level.

Its interesting to see what everyone has to work with :D

That sounds pretty cool!! I like the idea of having a staging yard for each level in another room, are the levels connected?

Mine is the same size as Phillip's 10.5 X 15. :)A Normal Scale room that is more than adequate for my layout and workbench. It runs 5' down the south wall, 15' up the east wall, down 4' on the north wall with a 7 foot peninsula. I also have 18 drawers that came for a remodeled Hallmark Card store my used to work at with the layout sitting on them with enough room above the drawers to get to the wiring. I have most of the drawers full of layout stuff and my grand kids yet ungiven Thomas the Tank Train stuff. The Thomas things are just about to run out so I may have to get more layout things so Glendia (my Wife) does not take over my empty storage space.

I didn't notice the "somewhere in between" option or I would've checked that. So I wound up checking 20x20, because I have a converted two-car garage that measures 24x22ft. However I don't currently have ALL that space available for layout use because of doors, wall shelves, and a stand-up freezer (among other things). So I settled for a 17x16ft island-style layout, plus staging along one wall.

I have a 1250 square foot basement to play in. The layout that is under construction doesn't cover all that though but the planned running distance to where the train crosses the same place again will be about 8 scale miles.
The construction can be followed in the thread "Return of the D&J Railroad in the Layout Design and Construction section.

Yeah, I love seeing and hearing about other's layout also. I guess that's the fun of this hobby. Just can't seem to get enough of it.

The two level will be connected by a helix(under construction) in one corner. The top level of the layout has the ability to be a continuous run but I will be operating the layout as a point to point.
I have pictures of the layout being built on my website (under my signature) in the photo gallery under the "New PVR Layout". Shows pictures from the concrete basement to where I am at now.
