Got my Williams FA-1's the other day. Put it up there to see what it looked like. Not running yet, as I need to get some lube on them and determine if my transformer is actually going to be big enough. I had bought a Lionel 80 watt a while back and the instructions for the locos recommend a 90 watt, Hope I'm not going to have to go get a bigger transformer. Any thoughts there? As one pic shows, the Locos are awfully close to the wall. I had hoped for more room between the wall and the Locos, but didn't work out that way. Not sure at this point if I will attempt do do anything about that. I had wanted to add some scenery along the wall like some plaster work on cardboard strips, but unless I re-do everything, that ain't gonna happen.

The layout looks good and you are close to the wall but you could always use some stencils and paint the scenery along the wall and it would still look pretty good. One thing I did on for my layout above my bar was I bought these display racks that look really nice and I have four rows of them. You could add some of that which would take away from the painted scenery. I got the racks at ogaugetrack.com . I did find out ordering them in a bundle is cheaper for shipping. I have my williams engine running on a 75w transformer and have not had any issues.

Thanks gllane. I want to, and haven't yet looked into, some scenic paper to put up. Also plan on a tunnel and mountain in one corner where there is depth to work with. Got to work out some track issues I think. The train won't run at a low speed all around the room, have to stand by the control and keep adjusting it as it goes around. I have a feeder at each corner, maybe that's not enough.

slow train

You need to make sure you put a lockon about every 20ft of track and that will fix that issue.

Basically put another lockon on the other side of the room and it will eliminate that issue and keep track power consistant.
