How far apart should the tracks be in a train yard ladder and on a main line? I have mine chalked out at 2.5"on center track and they look far apart. Should it be more like 2" on center? Opps and the scale is HO...

I can't answer the question, but I can predict that whomever can will need to know what scale you are modeling in?

In my yards the tracks are 1&1/2" apart on center.
On my mainlines I spaced mine a little more than usual on the curves because I run long diesels & long passenger cars. On the straights I spaced them the same as my yards. I like trains that pass close together like the real ones. Sometimes it does cause a problem w/wide loads on flats. Then I bought a long HD drop center flat(22" long) & I can't let any of the trains to be passing on a curve or they crash. LOL
Everyone has their own measurements for tracks, but there is an NMRA set spacing.
