track diameter help

Rico

BN Modeller
I'm wondering if anyone in the G scale world can explain to me what LGB means by R1, R2, R3 etc. for curved track?
I'm looking for ten foot diameter circles, or five foot radius curve pieces, doesn't have to be LGB.
They describe them in degrees, which I should know having worked for the RR's.:rolleyes:
Also looking for a good source for G track, no time to hand lay right now with an open house coming up in a month.
Thanx!

Rico;

Hope this helps:
LBG seems to be the only manufacturer that uses the R designation for curves
R1 - 47.2" diameter (2' radius) = 4' diameter
R2 - 61.4" dia (2' 6" rad) = 5' diameter
R3 - 94.1" dia (3' 11" rad) = 8' diameter
R5 - 182.7" dia (7' 7"rad) = 15' diameter

However Aristo-Craft has much larger diameter/radius curves and they don't use the R designation. They sell curves with up to 10' radius (20' diameter). I use their track on my indoor 1:29th scale layout and it's pretty good stuff. Can't say the same about their turnouts, although with some work, their 5' radius and No. 6 turnouts work pretty well. A-C's track is available in either brass or stainless steel.

Ed

The model train would be approximately 20¾ inches long, right? I'm also working on my large scale train. This track has 45 mm between rails.
