Has anyone used these guys products? Seem pretty cool if you want to add to the rear of your passenger trains.
here is the link to Tomar Drumheads

i've thought about asking if they'de do a custom drumhead face for my fictional railroad. i tossed around the idea of changing the name from little ferry and northern to New Jersey and Northern with a long distance train called "The route of the Jersey Devil" or "Jersey Devil route". still trying to get the logo drawn up, when done i'll definitely post it up.

Yes, I have. They look good and are just the thing for hanging off the end of your observation cars. I've never seen any evidence they do custom work but it wouldn't be difficult to replace the drumhead sign with one printed on overhead transparency plastic sheets. Most injet printers can handle these sheets so it would just be a matter of getting your logo scaled correctly.

Hi NYSW S45 - I was looking for posts about the Tomar drumheads and found yours. Did you decide to try one out? If so, what do you think? I'm thinking of getting both a Santa Fe Super Chief and also trying to create a custom one for a railroad I'm building, much like you.

I read about them recently in a new book from Kalmbach on setting your railroad in the 1950's. Interesting that the author of the article uses a battery to power his.

If you've had a chance to try them out, I'd love to hear your opinion and about your experience!

I haven't done anything with it yet. My fiancee's father is helping with the artwork that I want to use. So far i've gotten a lot of "that is pretty dam cool" or "very interesting name" for the long distance train. The shop I frequent has them in stock. I didnt realize how tiny the piece is, but still. Hopefully i'll be able to get back on this passenger car kitbashing. I've been stalled with lack of parts. Branchline is taking forever for 2 roofs i ordered, and walthers, well there walthers.
