By the way, I distinctly remember telling people Progress Rail was going to attempt to get into the rebuilt market strong sometime, since the were bought by Caterpillar, go figure, they're re-power with a Cat motor.

I'd love to hear what one of those Cat re-powered locos sounds like under load, I wonder if the turbocharger whine would drown it out? Hope somebody posts a You Tube video of one pretty soon...
This is a great model to do for HO scale.
Interesting looking unit. The body reminds of the old GP-40X, for those of you who remember that short-lived experiment. I've always wonderd why locomotive builders keep going back and forth between flared and vertical radiators.
The flared radiators provide space for larger radiators than can be accommodated in a non-flared hood. That's one of the reasons the SD45-2 is longer than the SD45 - to unflare the radiators, which I expect are more expensive design and assemble.
