I am building a scrap yard on my layout and i was half way though when i realized that no one built a metal bailer or a shredder so i decided to make one.
i was wondering now after i finished it if i should use it or keep looking for one View attachment 16567
I think it looks good. The prototypes I've seen are open top and I was trying to imagine how you modeled the crusher arms. Having yours covered is ingenius - no hairy scratchbuilding needed.
Hey!! I seen summat with a cover--it looks good what with the weathering and the lettering--most shredders that I've seen did look ramshackle---good work there!
thanks for the compliments I stayed up till 6am trying to figure out how to make the bails of junk coming out of this beast. i finally took my wifes alum. foil and made in to squares and it came out pretty good i just wanted to also show you its new home on the layout i still need to add a switch off the short line so i can come up with a way to load my bails onto my gondulas but im also adding another 4x8 to my layout just for industry so i may move it over there havent got that far though thank you all and god blessView attachment 16575
I like the scrap in and bales out look!
I made some scrap bales by squishing aluminum foil into the square end of a 1/2" or 3/4" drive socket, they came out not bad.
For variety start saving the foil from gum packages, makes for a nice color change.
