Ok, time for a small/micro layout thread. These must be smaller than the standard 4x8 layout. Here is my small Marklin layout, 35x55 inches, portable to take to shows, the catenary is fully functional, all the buildings are lighted and I am putting up signals now. I can run everything from a 0-8-0 shunting tank engine to a 2-10-0 around those curves. Ah the wonders of German engineering! Enjoy. Mike

Great Idea for a thread! You might want to define size (SQFT) requirements for MICRO sized layout. May be any thing under 8 sqft for n scale and 16sqft for HO?

Well, since it seems most of us started with a 4x8 layout, or it seems that is most common size for a table top layout in HO atleast. I would say anything under it is a micro layout. Now by micro, I dont mean the ones with just a circle of N or Z gauge track but one that has some industry and operation. My combines some operation, an interchange to the outside world at the left rear corner. A small 2 track yard, 1 engine shed for the steam or diesel engine, and 2 industrial sidings, one at the front left and one off the yard where my brewery will be. Not much in HO scale can do this much operation in my amount of space other than Marklin. Well, you can if you want to run 0-6-0 steamers or a 2 axle Mack diesel. I run 4 axle diesels, 2-10-0, 4-6-2, 0-8-0 and various electric locos under the functional catenary. Right now I only have the V200 diesel and 0-8-0 class 81 heavy shunting tank steam engine. I am working on building my locomotive fleet back up and aquiring more beer cars for the brewery I am building. Cheers Mike
