The BOeC

The first train of 2009 is this RS-18 pulling a few covered hoppers
and stopping at Chambly Station

The switch to the right leads to the Unibroue brewery. It is one of the few altas switch I have not replaced with PECO.

The RS-18 stopped at the station to let company higher priority train go by.

Before the RS-18 could go on however, CN premier high-speed passenger train, CN1 (which has priority over all other traffic)
flew by the station on its high speed run to Montreal.

I decided to take a break from weathering tracks and gluing/planting shrubs last evening.:p

I installed a new backdrop instead. I chose "Sceniking" http://www.sceniking.com/ (of Barrie Ont.)
due to its low cost. I must say that I was a bit sceptical at first, but I think it looks pretty good.

A roll-by where everything is slowly coming together to create
a more “realistic” looking model: Weather cars, weather tracks, photo-backdrop,
grass and greenery etc.

The loco is not weather yet (except the trucks) and the road
will be re-done later on, which prevent me from adding more “greenery” at this point.
I will be adding telephone poles and vehicles a bit later.

An overall view of the eastbound light freight (as seen above) on a portion of the layout

Until next time

Awesome! I like that backdrop. Might buy the new gas plant backdrop, and maybe a few others for use around my layout.

Nice photos and models. That backdrop really does look good. First one I've seen with surburban homes and it looks very convincing. How tall and how long is it?

in the meantime (while I'm doing some scenery..)
I ran the Turbo. Great train. The sound effect are realy good.

I really like that backdrop. It reminds me of the 401 that runs with the CN near northeastern Toronto

I just searched the link and think I need to pick up a few back drops to get rid of my white walls! Thanks for that link!!!

MLW, nice models and nice underpass. Interesting juxtaposition of the TurboTrain and VW Bug, both symbols of a bygone era.

those are awesome pictures!! I love the detail on the cars and the backdrop is really cool! Did you buy that at a shop or did you take that photo and photoshop it?

Its been a while, so here's a quick update of sort... :)

I've been working on the layout extension and its progressing nicely.
Main track is operational etc.. unfortunately scenery is "pink foam" only
(which I started to carve etc..)

So in the meantime a few shots of the scenic area of the layout :p

Added telephone poles...

also "calibrated" all the cars (wheels, couplers height, trip pins height, weigth etc..) for near future ops session.

Excellent work, MLW. That covered hopper is really nice weathering job. I'm also glad to see your phone poles have green insulators (inside joke). :)
