The BOeC

I guess it's time to update this thread!

I've been "working" on the layout on-and-off since after the hollidays.
Pretty much all scenery, or close to. Been going down to the train room in the evening when I can.

Anyways some pics I took before christmas, dunno if I posted it here before:

So I've been doing change to the "other side" (peninsula)

First I finally change the tracks arrangement in Chambly. The old tracks were too linear
and did not allow for "good switching", especially since the tracks are for the
Brewery (Unibroue, the only industry depicted there)

I slightly "curved" the tracks away, and double it at the same time while keeping
the background tracks "as is". Also added an "escape track" for the loco.
It happen that this allows for more "cars" go figure..:D;)

Not the best picture but it gives you an idea

Next in line is the station at Saint-Basile-Le-Grand.

Well, it could be Mec Master Ville and it is more true to it. They are both on the same main line and are real station.

This is part of the busiest main line in Canada today. It is part of the Quebec city-to-Windsor Ontario corridor. Fast freight, passenger service, commuters trains etc. you name it.

Anyways, after laying/gluing foam I started to carve the area.
I took pictures as I went along:)

More carving

The tracks arrangement is true to the real thing which is easy to do:p

The backdrop not at all.:mad:

It should depict the busy highway in the distance (the A40) , trees and some farmland.

Weeeeeeell it does the trick for now.

The compnay that makes the backdrop did not have any of what I was looking for, and I am waay too far to go there and take some pictures.

;):)

In the meantime on the "other side' of that peninsula I started work
on la rue Saint-George (St-Georges Street).
Rue Saint-George at Le Moyne to be exact.

In real life it is a busy 4 lane roads that cut across the busy main line.
It is a 4 tracks main line at that point. One of the very few place where
the road "crosses the tracks". Usually it's over or under.

On my layout it's only two tracks and then it "merge" to one.....

You gotta do what you gotta do.;)

Another crappy picture but once it's more "scenic" I'll post a better one

The "carving" is done at the station.

Making final adjustment for the stairs and
getting the platform ready for pavement
The picture was cropped and it did some fuzzy/weavy funny thing:mad::mad::confused:

Later on I did some landscape "work" to the platform area.
Sprinkle some "grass" and "dirt" as a base.

Going eastward at Chambly (where the brewery is situated:))
and did some work on the crossing.

Few days later did some "gardening" to that area:D
Also lightly weathered the rails for now.

Awesome photos. Awesome thread. Looks like the whole layout is coming along quite nicely. Keep up the great work.

Man, you've been way busier than me. Very nice job on the station platform and the crossing. It's tough to incorporate a turnout in a road crossing and have it come out right.

Thanks for the comment Jim. It's mostly a few evening here and there, after all is said and done for the day (including work) that I go "downstairs".
I had not much of a choice for the road and turnout, but it worked out great.

More later:)

More Beautiful work all around!! I really like that first shot you posted though, the shot that shows a view looking down the side of the layout! That is a nice shot!

Say, do you have a trackplan of your layout? I didnt know it was this large, I thought i remembered it being a smaller layout then what I can see in the recent picture updates  lol

Awesome photos of an amazing job - well done!

Thanks Sarge. It's been a work in progress. A little here and there.
The layout is starting it's 4 year now. (I did have one prior to it but
sent it to the -recycle bin- minus stuff I did recycle to use on this one)
