A couple of weeks ago you posted about your trip to the Great Smokey Mountain Railroad. It sounded so nice, we decided to go ourselves last week. Took the excursion train from Bryson City to the Nantahala Gorge. A four and a half hour trip. Just great. The scenery was magnificent. Now i want to go back in the fall. In Bryson City, there is a very nice Lionel Museum with a good size collection as well as a Lionel 24' by 45' operating layout. Also went over to Spencer, NC, to the Transportation Museum, which has been mentioned a couple of times on the forums. Well worth the visit. They also have a 25 minute excursion trip. Ours was powered by Southern #6133, an FP-7. She looks great in that paint scheme. Here's a couple of pictures.
Thanks again for pointing me towards a great week.
