Adding reflective tape. I used some yellow reflective iron on tape from JoAnn Fabrics! After slicing to 1/32" the iron on transfer tape backing came off easy, allowing me to use Testors clear parts cement & window maker to glue the tape sections on. The reflection really does work, though its hard to photograph at such small scale. The tape does have one downside, the same as using actual reflective tape, in that its over scale for thickness, but I think I can live with it. It's easier to remove the adhesive backing on this product! I think its a tad lighter yellow the the prototype tape, but I'm not worried, since it reflects! If you notice it looks fairly white, that's the reflection action, its actually yellow, comparable in color to CNW Zito yellow. Now to find white tape, as JoAnn's only had yellow, pink & green.

Wow, as usual very nice collection of model and proto photos guys!
I've been too busy for the train room again :( but I did get my new custom designed trailer. (yipee!:D)
It's been in the works for way too long!

I am late this weekend, but I have been able to enjoy a longer look at all the fine images. :)

Here is my own. A Pennsy Duplex emerges to daylight and works hard along a rock cut.

Tom, nice series of photos as usual. I always enjoy your scenes and complete train pics also.

Josh, that reflective tape looks pretty good to me. Do you think it would ork on emergency vehicles or whould it obviously be too thick?

Jeffrey, not a patch out on a Rio Grande engine! It's downright sacrilegious. :)

Steve, it does look a little nippy but those are some great shots. The one along the canal is very atmospheric.

John, that female passenger in the last photo is quite...attractive. :D What do the little red dots on the windows mean?

Rico, is that a trailer for your speeder? I showed my wife some of your speeder pictures and she firmly put her foot down on me adding that to my list of hobbies. Is that how snow you have there right now? Cripes, it's going to be a long winter if so.

Crandell, very nice photo and model. Those Duplex's were never the biggest or strongest articulateds but they sure were the sleekest looking, especially with that tender and the fender skirts.

John Very nice taste in passengers ;)
Jim they are No Smoking signs, you can't smoke in public enclosed places, if you do your in trouble, smoking was banned years ago on trains.

It should, though it is fairly thick. I think is the layer of tape + the reflective material that causes it to be thick.

Honestly, from a non-smoker, some people deserve to not be allowed to smoke in public. I hate chain smokers that puff-n-blow smoke everywhere, and leave us non-smokers choking on it. Not that I have it out for smokers, but... California has a law against smoking in a vehicle with anyone under the age of 18 present. It's a nice ticket...

Thanks, Josh, I've have to snealk in the fabric shop and check it out.

I am a smoker and agree that people should not be allowed to smoke in enclosed places like restaurants, airplanes, and railway coaches. It really just common courtesy. Smoking in a car with someone under 18 is starting to stretch it but I can see there could be helath implications for youngsters and I don't smoke in my own car if there are children present. What I do object to is the Nicotine Nazi brigrade, who are not trying to stop smoking for public health reasons but because it doesn't fit into their approved form of conduct. Several cities in California have passed laws to not allow smoking in public places, including parks. We had several parks that had 2,000 or more acres and I'm pretty sure a courteous smoker could manage to smoke one somewhere in 2,000 acres without impacting a non-smoker. This also adds an unreasonable burden to an already overworked police force, responding to complaints from people who even smell cigarette smoke. At some point, we cross the line between public health and social engineering.

Well this week I,ve been on holiday, which gave me plenty of time to work in some scenery. I,m modelling a layout based on typical Pennsylvanian countryside, which means lots and lots of trees. I found a great tutorial which I,ve followed to make the trees in my photo. Here is a link to the site I got the information from http://www.amoskeagnorthern.com/content/view/20/40/
The amount I,ve done so far, is about 5.5 feet by 2 feet, with another 7.5 feet to go !!

Unibroue Brewery

Finally past the 1/2 way point on my scratchbuilt and kitbash brewery.

The whole thing is a mix of two european kits (Faller and forgot the other one)
to make the Unibroue micro-brewery (loosely based on the real
Unibroue brewery, see here:http://www.unibroue.com)

It is not quite a "micro" brewery on my layout it grew a bit...and it does allow lots of switching
(and if the operator does it right, he gets a beer. The real Mcoy: a Unibroue Beer. :D:p

Maybe not such a good idea...:rolleyes:

Anyways here's a few pictures. Lots to do yet but at least I can show it now..

watching paint dry...

Well the weekend wears on... must be a 4 day weekend right before the train show!!!

I couldn't find any of my surviving CHRISTmas wreaths, so I had to make my own... Green pipe cleaner and a bow from a small ornament, add a little bit of paint (who ever heard of blue bows and candy canes??!!) and there's a bow/wreath for the front of a loco. (yea I think the bows are way to big myself, but they are the best I could find...)

the Generator Car is coming along. I built the room in the bottom of the car, painted it, and added the wedding veil mesh screen to the carbody. ($5 at walmart, yea, it's a real veil. you shoulda seen the looks I got in the craft aisle looking at ribbons and veils...)

My wall braces were parts of a gondola I cut up for my MOW storm response car.

Test fit... before I installed the mesh and painted the walls...

waiting for all the glue and paint to dry before assembly. Then to disassemble and re-coat the car, and add the blue stripe...

Glue's dry!

last pic...

I PROMISE!!!

if the weather improves I'll try and get the carbody (and the other 2 cars and locomotive) painted with the blue stripe. if not, it will roll at the show as-is.

There's room for improvement, but I dont think it's too bad for my first time doing even remotely something like this.
