My local hobby shop sells and supports Lenz DCC with TCS decoders. TCS has a "goof proof" warranty where they will replace any decoders that you fry no questions asked. I already fried 1 and it was replaced lickety split.
I like the idea of local support from my hobby shop and the "goof proof" warranty. Any comments on TCS decoders?
I use the A6X in my Athearn Genesis SD70 series locos of the old type without the dcc-ready board in them, and they work great. I like the A6X because you don't have to add any resistors to them for the 1.5v bulbs in the Athearn units, as they have the voltage regulator built in.
