I started tagging some of my 89 ft. boxcars last nite w/metallic rollerball pens that I bought at WM. These are reall nice pens for doing the work. They come 18 diff. colors in a pack. I let them sit all nite & most of today waiting for them to dry. Didn't. So, I had some Matte clear spray & I did a 2 pass over the side of the cars & that sealed up the paint. I couldn't beleive those pens wouldn't dry up in that amount of time on their own. I had smudged some of the ink w/my hand before I realized they weren't drying. Just wanted everyone to know about this item before you used the pens.

because your using them on plastic. The gel just sits onto of the hard none porous plastics but a quick clear/matte coat seals them right up

Dumb Me, didn't think about that.

its all right i was there a long time ago first time I used them
I made up a whole bunch of my own decals w/tag names that I got off of a web site, but they didn't work, because the decals were to clear & the car body colors showed thru. I guess if I had used the decal paper w/the white background & then made a close trim around each piece of art that would probably have worked. I'm not spend many hours doing all of that art work like I did on all of the ones I have now. I'll just have to break down & buy the decals. LOL If I had any white boxcars these would have worked, but I don't.
I've been using colored Sharpies. The big problem I found with them, is Dullcote will cause them to bleed, then need to be sealed with gloss cote (or future) before dullcoting.

I have a lot of those, but I figured they wouldn't be bright enough against the dark colored freight cars. I'll try them out since you use'm. Do you spray the future w/a gun or w/a spray bottle?
Airbrush, the same as any paint. The Sharpies I have are the Ultra Fine point ones.
