Anyone know a safe substitute smoke for MTH engines. Have heard mineral oil of a specific viscosity is needed.
Thanks
Larry
Most model railroaders avoid all smoke fluids like the plague ,it tends to cover your engines and track and scenery with a oily residue...
I realise mth may have come out with a better smoke generator but will non the less stand by my guns ...oil smoke not'm good for model trains!!
I've been using 3in1 oil in mine for years. makes the whole room smell like an old car that smokes.
Larry
I suppose using the smoke generator is OK, but the car following the loco should be a track cleaning car....
But if 3&1 oil is smelly, maybe some kind of add-on scent might help....

PS. The worst place to be at the big train show is a booth next to the booth where they're running smoking trains. The smell just gets nauseating after a time.
