Steve's SOCAL BNSF layout

Yes you do. There's not much available in the era you're modeling, especially in N scale. I know I hit the jackpot when it comes to vehicles.

Did a bit of scenery and detail work this weekend. Added some more signs and vending machines to the BNSF Logistics and Performance Food Group industries.....

I also weathered the roads around the two industries...

Also a bit of turf/gravel applied across from what will be a BNSF building (tan building) I think.... maybe some track maintenance vehicles parked across the street with old track, ties, ballast piles etc....

Also added some of Bob's oak trees from www.lonshadowsmodeltrees.com. Thanks again Bob, great stuff!

Three more locomotives with decoder installed this weekend and a test run with some.

It was a hot weekend and didn't feel like doing to much else on the layout so I weathered some Railbox boxcars that looked entirely too new. Did the first coats of paint and chalks.

Not a bad week. Been working on the yard ends.... added a locomotive facility at one end and a car shop at the other. Track installed and feeders installed on both ends. Just needs to be wired into the main bus....

Also swapped out my first 25 cars with metal wheels (Two more 100 packs on the way), and replaced some short couplers on a few new locomotives.

Steve,

I have a special request. When you get a chance, I'd like to request that you make a video featuring the trains snaking thru the mountain section of your layout. In N scale, its very possible to run longer trains (than HO) in a given space, and I'd considered this trackplan in the past for the basis of an HO layout. Thanks in advance, and keep up the good work!

Carl/Otis,

Thanks for the feedback and comments. I'll see what I can do for that video, might take a few days to get it up as I've been out of town.

Thanks
Steve

Steve,

Great video! Should the hillsides have some high tension line towers? Look forward to more postings and progress when you get around to it.

Carl

Nice video. Sure with locomotives ran like this in the 70's. I would most likely have stayed in N scale.

Thanks for making a video, it gives a nice overall feel for your layout. That's a nice speed for the train to run at.

Thanks for the feedback, I'll try to get some more videos up with more of the overall layout instead of just run bys too.

Thanks, N scale has really come a long way.

Thanks for the comments, probably should have some towers. I have a couple on the side, maybe I can incorporate into the hills.

Well running train. Like Chet said if years ago "N" scale operated like yours Steve, with my space limitations, I would of been a NScaler myself.

Thanks for sharing.

Greg

A short run by I did and uploaded, clip contains some patched boxcars I did by hand (last 4 cars before the KCS). I was going to wait to upload until I had a few more clips but I went well over 10,000 views on the YouTube channel so I had a reason to do it sooner.
