I'm gonna be converting a Bachmann Spectrum 44 tonner to DCC. This will be my first conversion. Has anyone doe this before who has any advice before I jump in?

Are there any decoders that can operate on a standard DC layout as well? (like the Bachmann DCC onboard units?)

Hopefully, it is one with the newer drive system. The old twin motor chassis will teach you patience, how to quickly dress finger burns, and a whole new vocabulary before you get them done. (Trust me, I've done 2 of them!) The new chassis is a lot easier.

Just about any modern decoder can be set to tun on DC, its just a matter of programming to allow it. (CV29)
