Something totally different for me

Not my usual scale but my wife is a huge Disney fan. So I started collecting the villains cars for her.

Display track or Christmas Tree duty?
She has the Mickey 90th anniversary set she puts around the tree. For now this sits on the top shelve in the train room.

I can see the next build thread already, a shelf layout around the ceiling!
She mentioned that but I nixed it until I retire and we have our last home.

And if it is not a static display, who will build it? Here's your in to get the Missus involved in the hobby!
She comes down to the train room and looks around. That's about all she wants to be involved in. ;)

I've wondered why this is such a male dominated hobby. Maybe because it's a male dominated vocation?

I've seen wonderful painting (structures and backdrops) and scale modeling done by girls and women. Do none of them like trains?!
😃

My wife enjoys my trains and layout. She didn’t enjoy running a train until I handed her a ProtoThrottle. She will run with me a couple days a week switching the layout. She has no desire though to build and buildings. She feels the scenery element is what makes the railroad and because it is mine, I should do it.

I’m so sorry. I wasn’t referring to your wife specifically but women and the hobby in general.

My post was probably too off topic and I apologize.

No need to apologize. I totally understood what you were saying. My wife before the PT I purchased had no desire to run a train. She was one of the ladies you described. No problem here my friend
