These are some recent weathering jobs I've done on some new rolling stock.

First, a Bachmann Silver Series gondola.

Jeffrey...the weathering on that tanker looks real good. But lose the "chrome" grab. I don't know if it should be painted black, or orange per the prototype.

Although I really shouldn't say anything, since currently I'm guilty of running tankers with "chrome" grabs also. One day I'll get around to fixing that.

Jeffrey, what did you use to "wash" the boxcar with? It really toned it down nicely and brought out the ribbing on it. I am looking for that effect on a project of my own and everytime I try the india ink and alcohol method I seem to make more of a mess than anything else......Thanks, Rich

I use a spray on wash of 1/2 an ounce of #479 pure black gel acrylic paint mixed with 22 ounces of 70% alcohol. The rust spots are just pieces of dried black paint. The info on the paint is Plaid Folk Art artist's pigment #479 pure black acrylic. I got mine at Wal-Mart.

Thanks for the info Jeffrey. Since it appears that it is going to rain this weekend and I won't be able to go fishing I will make a trip to the art store and buy supplies to try this...Thanks again, Rich
