I will share a picture of my Truck now when I get one. I have yet to take any pictures of it.

Nice roster you're building up there. I like the weathering on the D&RGW car. That UP engine isn't bad for your first attempt either. Some nice pictures of both your model and real trucks. I guess the scenery does help make up for those long hours in the office sometimes. BTW, do you have a first name we can use? I feel kind of strange calling you "Boilerbuster". :)

Yep the name is Don. BTW there are two D&RGW cars there. I had two of them and weathered both. I used Doctor Bens Rust solution that I got today and did both of those cars. I also did the COOP ACF hopper as well. I got the hopper off of ebay last week.
I am gong to work the UP Dash 8 some more and it will turn out better.

as far as the scenery I have been to 47 of the lower 48 in the last Three years. I have seen it all and then some. When my computer crashed I lost alot of very good pictures of some of the other places I have been.
I out ran Katrina as I did a run from LA to Jacksonville FL in three and half days and Katrina hit the Southern Coast when I got to Jacksonville. I was headed for Lakeland FL but it was a mess down there and ended leaving the load in our yard at Jacksonville. I ran across Meridian MS two days later. It was a mess there.

Good shots of the models. I havent been out in the northwest in a Long while. Kinda miss it. Running the east coast gets old after awhile!

Good to know there's another driver on the board!

I run mostly the midwest now with the company I drive for. I drive for Morehouse out of Omaha. Just went back out on the road this afternoon going to Holcomb Kansas then down to Amarillo TX. Then I am headed to Chicago. Kinda glad winter is gone as I am tired of snow.

Nice addition!

I shag parts for Toyota. Its a Team route, we split it up thou - I gotta goto chicago here in a few hours. I really DONT like Chi Town...

Nice equipment! I could welcome you's to Chicagoland because where I live backs up against I-80. There is a little saying about living north or south of I-80 here and I'm proud to profess that I live south of I-80......150 feet south of I-80! Also, welcome to Illinois, the pothole pit of the nation!!

Regards,

Don, whoever did that model did a great job on the fuel tanks, torpedo tubes, and other small details. It's too bad he didn't take the time to add the extra vents and air lines to the torpedo tubes like you see here:

But it's still a real nice job for an older Athearn engine. The paint scheme on the 3189 in the picture was a one off. The one on the model is more correct.

I really like it, It pulls well but makes alot of noise when running. Kinda like an old clunker but I like it anyway. It was a custom job and well worth what I payed for it. However the lights dont work they are just there for the looks. But from my guess this is an older engine and has seen alot of use. I am going to add the little bit of red behind the tanks that you see on the real engine but other then that I am not going to change much about it. well maby add DCC and sound to it thought. I also won another geep like it only its a newer design that SP used as the air tanks are above the fuel tank and it has the dynimic brake on it as well. Its unpowered but I plan to power it. I have a newer athearn motor laying around and will use it to power it.
I also won tonight a GE dash-9 that is also SP. Its also unpowered. I will take it to a hobby store and get it powered and add DCC and sound to it as well. I picked it up for 17.50 and since I won a Caboose from the same guy I cut the shipping in half on it so I got it for a good price as well.

Don, the 3189 spent its entire life on commuter train service in the Bay Area or pulling the Del Monte down to Monterrey for as long as that lasted. It was occasionally used on freights from the old State Belt Railroad in San Francisco to San Jose at night if there was a power shortage but that was rare. Since the 3189 had no dynamic brakes, it was only usable on relatively flat terrain and the SP didn't have much of that. She spent some time working on lease to Caltrain after the state took over the SP commute route from San Francisco to San Jose but she was traded into EMD in 1994 against an order of SD-70m's and, to the best of my knowledge, was subsequently scrapped.

Boilerbuster:

Great photos. I really like the photos of the trucks; yours and your models. Tell me, what kind of freight were you hauling to Los Angeles that required the load to be unloaded that way, or do I not know that the machine is the new way of unloading anything and everything. Man talk about turn around time for unloading and getting you moving on the road again.

The cabbage patch, is that in Eastern Oregon? If so, I've been on that grade a few times. Really a neat pass. The Columbia Gorge is SWEET too. Great place to see some trains. Bad thing is traveling through there at night when you are level with the tracks and an oncoming train approaches with his high beams on. That happened to me and boy could I not see a thing.

and now another of my other weathering projects. This tanker I am trying to decide if I will add anything to it or not, What do you think of it?

Monfort.jpg

Don, looks like you've managed to pick up some nice stuff. I think that tank car looks just about right the way it sits. That UP F unit is a Mantua Metal Train unit and it is really a sweet running unit. It will pull every car out of your yard with power to spare. The detail level is pretty good even with the cast on things like handrails. I'm about to add DCC to mine and it looks like it might be a challenge but the engine is worth it.
