BK, that's odd that the police would just park their cars in that lot. Is there a city owned building behind you in that shot?
Barry, I don't think it's a tug. Not the right shape and no bollards for towing other boats. It looks like an ex-Canadian Coast Guard rescue boat. The doors on the side were opened when they were doing a rescue but kept closed at other times to keep the hull watertight. That inflatable lifeboat in the orange container astern is also way too big just for the size of the boat. It was lowered overboard to get survivors out of the water until they could be rescued. I wonder if the port picked it up as surplus and is using it for a harbor patrol boat?
UP, The parking lot may be city owned. It is well kept and always spotless. Next to the cop shop is a resturant and some other businesses so it maybe a joint deal. The cop shop would be across the parking lot from the mural on the other side of State Rt. 177.
BK, I would guess that the lot is probably city owned and used for some overflow parking for the police department. It's rare to see PD units backed in unless they are there for use by an incomong shift.
Jim The boat there was a recent purchase--maybe for the harbour itself? Not sure yet....

Miscellaneous refinery type shots done at Sarnia ON
These things were done on the fly. Everywhere we went the security was pretty tight. If you are proposing to do any of this kind of stuff around refineries do yourself the favour as I have now done and get permission to do this

---as it is we'll be able to get on the grounds a bit easier now!

Awesome pics Barry!
Do you have any shots of an Ethanol Plant?
Awesome pics Barry!
Do you have any shots of an Ethanol Plant?
Thanks!
The only thing that comes close are some that I took of one down near St. Thomas ON last summer---the plant was apparently built only a few years ago and then shut down when financing for the plant dried up. Been for sale ever since--
Many areas were we went by included lovely little features such as tall fences with barbed wire---must've been having issues--

And a couple more---the one on the right is what used to be the Michigan Central carshops in St. Thomas. Now it is the St. Thomas RR museum building

Wow that is really cool, exactly what I was looking for because I'm modeling an ethanol plant on my new layout. Was wondering what the loading shed and silos looked like.
Thanks!
Got a few more to display here----ok---so some look a little familiar maybe?
L-R--- Very small elevator in Ailsa Craig ON--there is an even smaller one nearby: Closed bridge to east mill(closed) Carmeuse Limestone at Beachville ON: taken from second terrace at Carmeuse, Beachville ON: near one of the closed pits at the quarry---note the tiny shack at center left of picture Carmeuse at Beachville ON
Some more Purina feedmill in Woodstock ON--
Some industrial settings and things that make one go---mmmmm---
This particular building is of a curious shape--it appears as a series of structures conjoined together as needed by whoever owned this. Now, kinda sorts abandoned--it is boarded up but---it is a wonderfully ramshackle thing

A small castings operation--this place was started about 1914 in a mainly residential area. Well, sort of---

And an old establishment just moved out of-----back part of plant has sets of staircases that went into the offices and staff lunchrooms---
A set of construction equipment photos from an old equipment dealer--
