That looks great! I'm not familiar with that paint scheme, is it from a circus train too, or something else? Either way, I like it.I did this but it was a copy of a real one
Class 66
The fun was doing it, then they bought out a mass produced model
Thank you! That's quite a compliment, I really appreciate it!Jaz and CMM just showed us two fantastic and radically different approaches to having fun with model railroading. I admire you both.
Oh and talking of which these can be a circus and/or a safari park, or a circus winter spotThe no fun squad would/will probably go apoplectic when the see what I have making it's way through my paint shops right now, because it most definitely is NOT prototypical. I was going to save this for my "From the CM, MT & SL OCC Shops" thread, but I figure this is a good time and place for a little preview. Since I'm a bit of a kid at heart, this is a custom circus train inspired by an episode of what was and still is one of my all time favorite cartoons, "Ed, Edd n Eddy". It's a loving tribute to what in my opinion is a great cartoon.
Here's a screenshot from the episode for context.

And here's the cars that I've been working on. The last one is a work in progress, and I still have four cars to go. I have one other car that I completed, but it's a stock car, so it's just lettering because there's no place to put art on it. I did/am doing all of the art and lettering on them by hand, and it's all inspired by themes in various episodes, as well as character traits that have been seen or mentioned in one form or another.

This is, in my opinion, what model railroading is all about. Having fun! If we can't enjoy our hobby in whatever way makes us happy, there's no point to it.
I love the circus scenes.Oh and talking of which these can be a circus and/or a safari park, or a circus winter spot
Vehicles bought only one had a minor upgrade
I love it! It reminds me of when the circus troupes would walk with their animals and equipment to the area where they were going to set up.Oh and talking of which these can be a circus and/or a safari park, or a circus winter spot

Nice animals! I've been trying to add animals to my layout a little at a time.Animals were upgraded with paint, a selection
Impressive layout! They are on my thread, this is somebody else’s thread, and they would not really meet the criteria of the thread, I’ll add one posts worth but if the thread holder thinks going off topic is not appropriate, I would totally remove them
I rarely photograph the whole of a specific area, there are lots of gaps still to fill, and items trade in and out in certain area, several stations are connected via a track and areas between hide them with purely scenic offerings, there is still much to do before a video walking around
Img 1954 Goathland can be photographed and appear finished 1960s, I have a more polished photo by you said layout
Img 0918 Goathland village aka Heartbeat the TV series, some parts realistic some not set in 1960-present day as the mood takes me
Img 2362 represents Greengrasses farm viewed from the church. In reality they are close together.
Img 5866 shows Goathland station track dissapearing under scenic ara there is a police station due to be replaced by a scratchbuilt more realistic one then in the distance Aidensfield pub and Scripps garage from the TV series and the church.
Img 7037 Kalborough can be photographed and appear finished 1990/2010 ish, the sidings end
Img 7036 Kalborough is the west end of the station
Img 0156 Kalborough you can see a longer view but if I try to get the full length I get the centre aisle as well
Img 1980 East Kalborough is still very much a holding spot, rhs
Img 0768 is the Cove, it sits in front of hidden track and can be pulled forward and lifted off
Img6352 shows Union Station there are 2 tracks at the back, see Weetabix truck, it covers the back to back Kalborough East, and Kalborough
There are two other main stations one in a large town setting, and another scenic town, plus the highlands which can be Harry Potter or RAF as the mood takes me.There is one other large town area. There is also a strip behind the workbench area where the safari appears. I can take small tight photos of them but they are a long way from behind a cohesive area even in their own right.
Certain areas lend them themselves with ease to this threads actual purpose, to show of our sense of fun and I usually have several areas taking advantage of that sense of play. my layout, my rules, and if people do not like what I show at any time, they can jog on, to posts that suit their personal likes and dislikes.
I may even like and admire their work, BUT I do not like bullies, and there are NO RULES. I reflect reality when I can and will happily go totally overboard any time the mood takes me.
That's pretty cool. Reminds me of The Lord of the Rings and also The Hobbit. To which end
The likes of warhammer characters will pile in and take over the scenery
Bending any rules I want to
Class 66 they did the actual train companies did several full size graffitti trains special commissionedThat looks great! I'm not familiar with that paint scheme, is it from a circus train too, or something else? Either way, I like it.
Well in the uk it is worse, because 00 gauge was built on ho European track but the bodywork was scale differently without quickly googling it I think it is like have 3.5mm track and a 4mm body. The UK trains are bigger. You see this if you see 00 figures next to h0 figures, which is convenient because 00 are used for adults and h0 for teenagers but those who have sussed this advantage. we (i am an 00 modeller) can use this to our advantage for forced perspective inferring distance although building style is often very different, but we also use n gauge. Here 00 and n are both modelled with Uk buildings and allow stronger forced perspective.Wow. This is one of the most crazy story's I've heard in the model railroad world! I have read some articles in old magazines about some models being too stingy about things like "No young model railroaders in this club. They might break something", but this is just funny!
I think (To say the least) they got triggered.
All hobbies are suppose to be fun! Nothing else.
They shouldn't be so quick to forget that Scale model trains only exist because of Toy Trains! Which in their opinion would be even worse then getting an era wrong.
Great job for standing strong Dave!
Ah now I can equate to that…ThomasSome people don't know how to have fun. They probably wouldn't like this and many of its roundhouse kin due to the fact that the Colorado Midland, the Midland Terminal, and the Colorado Springs and Cripple Creek District Railway never merged with one another, nor did any of them have Russian Decapods.View attachment 220290
They really wouldn't like this for obvious reasons.View attachment 220294
And, they'd probably have a cow when these two make their periodic appearances.View attachment 220295View attachment 220296
