So what are you listening to right NOW?

Glen Campbell. He railroaded right up at the speed limit of his territory. And maybe a bit beyond.

The "Alan Parsons Project" is a similar project from long past. Perhaps the inspiration for the name chosen here, but in any case I think this guy's "project" is underrated. So I give you (if I already haven't) the "Don Gorda Project."

I have this thing for brass sections. From my own "grown up" era: Chicago, and the ones Dad and Mom raised me on: Herb Alpert and the Tijuana Brass. Bert Kaempfert and his Orchestra****, and others....

[****HAH!!!! I just stumped/jammed up the Google search engine not just once but TWICE in a row with this latter search. So I win the internet for at least a week]

Some of my favorite brass--Phil Collins "Sussudio":

Herb Alpert and his TJB: The theme from "Casino Royale (1967):

The unforgettable Jim McKay and retired racer, three time World Champion Jackie Stewart used to host "The Monaco Grand Prix" each year on ABC's Wide World of Sports. Jackie used his pointer on the scale MODEL of the track layout, and even today (as a former, but not yet retired sim-racer) I still think I'm two full seconds faster around Monaco when I listen to this tune.

Chicago: So many, but I'll offer "Beginnings":

Chicago Transit Authority - their first and their best!
Dunno about that, but I can say "Color My World"...which made all the gals in my high school gush...put me to sleep. Which is the best thing I can say about it.

Old Days:

Probably a bit too "baseball cards and gummy" for your taste, but it did have that Chicago brass.

"Love on a Real Train," from "Risky Business." ^^^

Should any Youtube copyright police be lurking about, note that I have both CD and the original vinyl. But have only recopied it, in any case, from a Youtube offering already here.

The tune ends at the 4 minute mark, so rewind from there.

Guessing not to many members are fans of Iron Maiden but this is what I’m listening to. Happens to be one of my favorites by them. Its about a major battle in world war from the perspective of a young solider.https://youtu.be/2C4D-2MTfXk

Riders on the Storm by the Doors

Good memories as saw them at Summerfest in Milwaukee I believe in July, 1972 when Terry and I broke up for like 6 weeks. The only time we have been apart since 10/1971. it was a memorable concert but not for the music. I only remember the girl I was with

I've been an Iron Maiden fan since I first heard this song in 1980. They are one of my favorites!

Most of you will know we lost the great Gordon Lightfoot on the first of May. While "I love me" my John Denver, and my Philip Bailey and Maurice White (both Earth Wind and Fire) all too, I've been listening to Gordon again for a couple of weeks now. He was and will probably always be my favorite singer, and in the top handful of my favorite songwriters too, so it's been a pretty melancholy couple of weeks for me of late.

Of all Gordon's work, it was "If You Could Read My Mind" which will stick with me the most...but this one gets to me too. As do so many others:

^ "A Lesson in Love."

Thanks Gordon for every note. And Godspeed.
