i am familiar with the technique of sanding down the back of printed signs............has anyone tried printing on onion skin or tracing paper?

I did a clinic on signage for building for the NMRA.
I print on 3 ply Kleenex which is tape to a sheet of paper, with a color laser and then separate the Kleenex layers.
The printed layer gives me a very thin layer, very very delicate, I apply a mix of 50/50 water white glue to the surface of the building and gently place the print on the surface. I then dab a sponge very lightly.

* DO NOT use an ink jet printer*

Lloyd's technique is neat, and worth trying. For those spooked at the thought of sanding the back of the signs, it isn't hard at all. I used my printer/scanner to copy the sign sheet in my kit and made a copy, then I practiced. It only took one or two tries before I figured out how thin "thin enough" was. Just go slow and easy. Start with 150 grit sandpaper, then switch to 600 grit. This sign mounted to a wood base but could have been mounted on a brick wall as well.
