I am in the planning stages of my new Model Railroad and would like some help with signals. When and why would I use them? Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

Ray not trying to put you off, but "Wiring, Electronics, DCC" category would be the best place for your thread. This way, others can find it when inquiring the same.
