Shipping Container Model Underway!

The first video of my 40' shipping container made into a model railroad building. This is an HO scale layout based on the Northern Pacific Railway, 1900 through 1940, located between Wyoming MN and Groningen MN, with the spur to Grantsburg, WI also featured. Includes the Great Northern section around the Sandstone, MN quarry, and a detailed view of the Sandstone mining operations.

We Dave, how's the temperature inside during the cold weather? I know you've mentioned it before. This winter is a good test, since we had minus 27f last week. It is on the cool side, as the floor is not insulated and the crawl space is open to the weather. I did not want to skirt it in, so...

I like that you're not trying to fill every square inch with track and switches. It looks much more prototypical that way.

I am all in on having a layout with open spaces, and I finally have the room to do it.

Setting up this container has also moved all the mess of model construction out of the house. The black thing in the middle of the floor is an air cleaner, which clears out all the dust and provides some gentle circulation.

The wife is super happy because we now have a nice den and the house seems much more spacious.
