So I dont know if this has been discussed yet, But i was in hobby lobby picking up some paint and road bed (because its cheaper) and I noticed some Caterpillar tractors out of the corner of my eye. Come to find out they were NORSCOT tractors (the same ones for 30.00 in walthers) but retailing for a mere 7.99!!
They also had the peter built with lowboy trailers hauling trackers for 17.99 or was it 12.99, I don't remember
Also they have model power flex track at 13.99 for 5 strips, (my local hobby shop has it for 4.99 a strip. (3 ft) looks like it could be code 100.
My LHS has the same Norscot Construction Equipment, but those are the lower end line of Norscot, with Plastic parts and such. The all diecast ones with rubber tires and more moving parts are the ones that are $20-25 now.
I almost fell over when i saw them for $11.99 at my LHS, but once i looked a little harder, (and saw the higher end of the Norscot Line on the shelf next to them) i noticed they were the lower end ones and the ones that were/are available from WalMart as well...
The price on those Lowboys sounds pretty good tho!!
Trucklover is right.
Good example: Excavator 1:87
On the cheaper one the boom only has one point of articulation. You can't see any cylinders, tracks are molded plastic.
Expensive one:
Cylinders work, Rubber movable tracks, two points of articulation on boom.
Don't get me wrong they are still a great deal. I have about 10 of the cheaper ones. If your looking for realistic you should pass on the cheap stuff.
I am planning on the cheap ones for a "back ground view" I pick them up at Shopko for about five bucks.
