I was repainting the hand rails on my SD40-2 BLI Blueline the other night and I noticed that the back of the locomotive does not have a plow. There seems to be four holes in the pilot for a plow. I did not see one in the box and I only have one of these locomotives so I have nothing to compare it with. The pictures on thier website do not show a rear end profile. I have been unable to get anyone on the phone at Broadway (one reason I prefer my Atlas locos, great customer service) so I figure it would be quicker to check with you guys that own BLI SD40-2's.

Thanks for the confirmation hamltnblue, I was having one of those moments. I didn't remember seeing one but the holes in the pilot for one is what was throwing me off. I wonder if there is a road specific model that has one. The holes don't really look that good if there is no plow for the model?

didn't NW use plows on teh long hood since they ran the locomotives that way most of the time? NS still does that to this day on some of there locomotives.

With that in mind it's possible that they might have one or more lines that have a rear plow but put the holes in all of them.

Your absolutely right Steve. Even my model is designated long hood forward as front so really the plow should be on the back and not the front if there is only one plow provided. Maybe I will see if BLI will send me another one!

Search around on ebay or call the manufacture and see if they sell the parts separate. Also details West sells some things for engines.
