Union Pacific All The Way
Today I was at the local hobby shop and I was looking in the back of the shelfs that had a few athearn engines and I came across a UP Desert Victory SD40-2 is this a new thing that athearn has done? I got the engine for $75.00 OTD.

I will post a few pictures of it as soon as I get my camera working, needs to be charged.

I did find a picture on the net of the real thing tho its bad ass!

VERY cool paint scheme...does the model have the same "USA" with the flag "graffitied" on the tank?

That's actually an older paint scheme that Athearn first released about 15 years ago and has been re-released periodically. It's a model of the one UP engine that was painted in desert camouflage colors in 1991 to commemorate the victory in the original Desert Storm. The plates on the side list the 66 UP employees who served in that conflict. The paint scheme only lasted in service from February to October, 1991. The flag and "USA" were part of the original scheme.
