Santa came early!

Mrs. Clause brought me an early Christmas gift today. She said
she knew how much I wanted it, so I shouldn't have to wait 'til
Christmas... which was fine with me.

I really like this scheme and it gives a little contrast to my all green and
white Southern Ry fleet. Enjoy

This loco is smooth as silk and sounds great. You should have seen me
with this one and my P2K E6 running side by side... with me trying to
decide which one sounded better. The result... they both sound great!
The BLI has a slightly deeper horn, but other than that, there is no clear
winner. Dave

WOW!!! Looks great! I wish I could get ahold of one of those E8's, well 2, Undec. I have a project... Love the BLI stuff

Wow Dave, Mrs. Santa did good on that present. I have the Great Northern BLI E-7A, and I love it. Have fun... and Merry Christmas !

WOW Dave, BLI really did themselves proud with that one! I saw a number of them (E8's and FP7's) at the Alexandria, VA station in the early 1970's after Amtrak had swallowed the other passenger trains. BTW I'm totally envious ;)

Mine too! Man that looks great. I have always wanted a Broadway Limited loco, but there kinda exoensive. Anyway, it looks great, and I hope you enjoy. I gotta share my early Christmas present as well.
TTYL,
Chris

Oh Wow! Dave, she is absolutely beautiful. Now you have really screwed with my mind. I was happy with my E6 Southern by itself and now... :(

I'll tell you what, I have an extra BLI E7 L&N that I will trade you even. I will even pay both postages. I'll even let you play on the BC&W. I'll even...naw...I better not.:D

At least Alabama beat Florida (some how). :D :D

Rex,
I don't think Nancy would be fooled by the L&N loco... she might not
be able to tell the difference between an E7 and an E8, but she would
definetly notice the paint schemes... at least I hope she would! :D

The day that Nancy bought the loco I stopped by the LHS and asked
John if she had been in yet. He said that she had just left a few minutes
earlier. As I was looking over his loco stock, he asked "what are you getting
her for Christmas?" I said "I don't know, which one of these locos do you
think she would like?":D

As for the Bama/Fla thing, two words for ya... next-year;)

Later, Dave

Thanks everyone,
I'm glad you all like it... I know I do!! I was thinking of hooking
the P2K and the BLI together and seeing who has the most
power!!:D Dave

Well the loco again looks great, but again I have a question. The Southern railway is in America right, I would appreciate any links, as I am now interested!
Thanks,
Chris
P.S. I should know the answer to this question, but it just own't come to me!

Thanks, I was also thinking about modeling this railroad, sence I found out a little! Teach me men:D Come soon:p
Chris

Hello Dave, Wow she's a beauty:D !! Makes me want to swap you some great silent running CNW stuff for it;) . After all, what are you gonna do with that gorgeous looking AND awesome sounding loco? Nevermind. Have fun and Merry Christmas!!

Johnny

Chris,
The Southern Ry is a great railroad to model. It's special to me because
the old Murphy Branch runs through the area of western North Carolina
that me and Nancy visit every year. We love this part of the country and
look forward to our trip every May.

There is something about the Southern that has appealed to me since I
first saw a picture of their green steam locos. And the fact that they
operated on some of the most beautiful land in the country doesn't hurt.

Look at this photo and if it doesn't give you the chill bumps, then the
Southern Ry is probably not for you ;). Enjoy, Dave

Chris, welcome to the land of the Southern. If you are interested in the romance of the Southern Crescent passenger train (and many others) running from New York to New Orleans winding through the Appalachian mountains, farm lands, and even swamps...then stick around and join us. How about the hundreds of freights that covered the Southeast with over 10,000 miles of track? There is a member of this forum, Cjcrescent, that as his name suggest is not only a lover of the Southern Railways, but is also an expert. Just ask questions and he will appear.

Rex; Here it is, I thought we were good friends, and now you insult me::p

:D:D

Chris: I really wouldn't call me an expert, just a knowledgeable modeler. I do know things that you won't find out from books, and magazines. So if you do have a question I will be more than happy to answer to the best of my knowledge.
