Well, I shouldn't comment on the Hurricane, (No longer on the Hurricane Center Map incidentally), because we were no where near any of the Hurricanes, Storms or Disturbances. But last night, the weekend weather dude on abc-7, made his whole presentation on linking our current "Maritime Weather", (official designation), with the former Hurricane. He was quite convincing, I might add. I guess that since misery loves company, he was trying to link metro NYC, to the disaster suffered by the folks living in the affective area.

I hope Troy isn't suffering from the effects of his version of Hamburger Helper :p

Still cloudy and damp...with more rainfall than the entire summer period. Things are looking up. 70s all week, some sunny days among the cloudy ones.

Willie: I like the way the skid shed turned out.

Great photo of the land of the "Hammies" from the State Street Bridge, Kriegslock, that Interlocking marks the Western Limits of the Northeast Corridor, (Keystone Line). One can see from the mostly unused catenary network and empty space between tracks what once was a busy Interlocking (Harris).
Back in the 90s there was still a lot catenary hanging over the empty space where tracks used to be, just west of that Reading RR bridge. Passenger car storage tracks i assume?

There were 10 Platform tracks in Harrisburg (numbered 1-10). Tracks 11 and 12 were freight tracks. (The Columbia Branch from Royalton). 1 through 3, directly connected to the CV Bridge to Lemo, as well as the East. 4 through 10 were E-W. There were also mid platform stub tracks, where sleepers were placed on Station steam, air and standby while waiting for connecting trains. The layover tracks were around Dock Street. As volume declined, fewer tracks were required.
When Agnes took out the Shocks Bridge, they devised a wye from the CV to the Main East. 1,2 and 3 were pulled up, and #4 was undercut and centered between the two platforms to permit high cube and auto rack clearance.
When Amtrak took over 9 became the inspection pit track and 10 disappeared. 5 (track where the GG1 is displayed), was stub ended. Numerous crossovers removed and tracks simplified. Since the Cab cars were introduced, the use of the wye has declined, and the track ends about Front St.
I walked the CV bridge in the early 80s, and the timber was getting a little soft then. (I bailed off a freight (MOEN) at Lemo, and walked to the station with a nasty storm approaching, to catch the last Eastbound of the day). The EB was former Metroliner coaches then called "Capital Liners".

Well, howdy there internet peeps, especially those of you with "Known Peculuarities"

I often think back to the old Bard's tales, and when the young man was in love with Gwyneth Paltrow. Funny her being a woman playing a man to play a woman on stage when only men could act as women and had to wear dresses on stage.

But I digress.

The rumours of my demise by chili with pasta (the later being the wife's insistence) are greatly exaggerated. Just one of those days where I did my back exercises, assembled more orcs, and spent the day setting up a demo day later in Oct for a new game I'm getting into. Lots of Hobby, but no Trains.

I lined up a "vanguard" from the gaming company to come out and teach the game to any locals who show up. He's out of South Bend (home of Notre Dame university) about 2 hours away. He gets points in his vanguard program, and earns $$ toward gaming products by teaching the game to newbies.

So, on Friday I reached out to one local store that's feeling the pinch. Just an old store, not well maintained. They recently lost a good chunk of their clients to another store that wasn't focused on the miniature wargames. But the tables work for either RPGs, Board Games, or Miniature Wargames.

Well, old store manager still hadn't gotten back to me. I messaged the store's official page. I messaged the manager. I stopped in... and radio silence from them.

So I went to the nice new store. "Sure, we'd love to have you. You're welcome to set up a game night, as well, if you get people interested enough to come in and play."

I give the old store another year at most. They just don't get the customer service side. I was trying to bring in a fairly new game, that I know some local players have purchased. They can have "special orders at a discount" on demo day, and make some $$, and have a new game group growing in their store, willing to spend $$. But, we're at the new store, the one with a coffee bar attached.

Been enjoying my teeter table. Up to 3+ minutes at the still shallowest angle, but I will say its arrival and use coincided with the uptick in my condition with Sciatica.

Today, the wife needed more noodles. So off to the italian place for good breadsticks.

The cat and I are chilling to some smooth jazz, with a bourbon cocktail at my elbow.

And I'm back...

Had a charley horse in my right calve about 2 am. This is my second in two nights. Got up and walked that off. Took another pain pill, and in the dim hours of the night, my dim brain connected the dots.

I had been taking Magnesium-Oxide supplements to help with that. Somewhere along the line, I picked up a bottle of a different kind of magnesium. It's better for mental acuity, instead of muscle health. Normally I get a little of the Mag-ox from my multi-vitamin, but I stopped that for a few days due to some upcoming labs that another ingredient can interfere with.

Short version: I switched out my magnesium in the pill sorter to the old version good for muscles. And I jammed one at 3 am this morning. Normally, I take it in the evening. Hopefully that will head off the charley horses.

Do you recall when did Conrail actually stop using the CV bridge? I'm guessing soon after they quit running electric locomotives (?)
