Good afternoon all!

A very late check in for me today!

I woke up early this morning with a swollen gum and fierce tooth pain on the lower left side. Not sure what that is all about, but it was throbbing like mad for the last few hours. It has since calmed down quite a bit but the swelling is still there. If it persists I may need to call my dentist tomorrow morning, but as of right now its quite a bit better pain wise.

Don't have any real plans today, as I accomplished most of the outside activities yesterday.

Have a safe Sunday everyone!

Afternoon all,

Had some train time yesterday, so I fixed a boxcar I changed the wheel on. When you ran it one direction, it worked perfectly, run it the other it would derail. Turned out to be an issue with the particular axle and the truck. Corrected it by changing the axle. That axle however works just fine on another truck, so what are you going to do??

Started cleaning the previously ballasted rail yard. zcleared the ballast out of most of the turnouts, but I have one that I still have to figure out. Works fine going to the straight position, but won't fully close to turn the cars to the siding. Moves freely enough, but I cleaned and then changed out the switch machine. I'm wondering if I have some bind point in it someplace (Atlas Switches). I also dis a little more ballasting of the track and ran a train for a while.

First time in a long time I've been to anything but a little league ball game. It was a nice time with the kds and grandkids. Unfortuneatly the home team lost, but it was a good evening to sit outside.

Good afternoon gang!

Slept in this morning til 6, then the dogs wanted t get up. Let them out to pee, then fed them, visited the potty myself and went back to bed. Wifey and I have both been running hard the last 2 weeks, so all 5 of us (Wifey,2 dogs, 1 cat and myself) all settled back down until 10 or so. I've been replacing water damaged drop ceiling tiles in the laundry room from a prior plumbing issue. Most of them are custom cuts to fit around windows and plumbing. I need 2 more pieces to finish, I'll hit HD one night this week after work. There is one right across from where I work.

Nascar on the agenda at 3, til then I'll vacuum up the mess I made and find something on the workbench to do.

Welp, howdy there internet peeps with H2O

Seems that the unionized water department employees earned their pay yesterday fixing four of the five water main breaks. And per their contract, they don't work on Sundays.

That means the supervisors pick up the slack.

Most of the guys out here today hadn't lifted a shovel, turned a wrench, or driven a large truck other than to qualify for their license renewals in the last 10 years.

The 50 year old water main (WILLIE, buried 48 inches or deeper here) had cracked nicely, right where the hole is. It took longer to find the main shut off for the neighborhood. Everyone thinks our utilities come in from the 2 lane road to the north of us. Road name is the same as the neighborhood name.

But they're wrong. Both Power and Water come in from the south, off of Jefferson Ave, a major 4-lane artery through the city.

So our guys will be making notes on the blue prints and the troubleshooting notebook.

Be careful around the dihydrogen monoxide Troy. I read that throughout history, it has killed millions…….

Yeah!, ya inhale to much dihydrogen monoxide and it can be fatal within minutes but it's a great fire retardant.
Well, we had pleanty, but not in the pipes. The city pumped it out of the rivers, sent it to our walking path, then gushed it out down the hill, across the street, through the parking lot for the community center, and into the drainage ditch, where it was returned to the river.

Now, I'm cooking a pork chop on the kamado for dinner. Wife made cornbread.

And, the hand-me-down, click-couch futon we got for a basement couch was officially retired today while we were without wetstuff. Fortunately, my grandfather was an upholsterer. I was the "de-upholsterer" in his shop for several years. So, I had to tear it apart to break it small enough to fit into the rolling garbage bin. I'll see if I can get a couple of pieces into the shared dumpster behind the maintenance shop.

New (cheap) couch for the basement gets delivered tomorrow.

Good early evening at 6:06pm, Central time. Easy day today.

Did the outside 1 mile walk while it was still in the low 70’s and for the 1st time in weeks I could have kept going. I watch a full NFL game without an IPad or cell phone in my hands. While the score didn’t indicate it the Packers really did a number in the 1st 1/2 against the Colts. Packers held on to win.

I got an email around 1/2 time from UW Health that I am scheduled for fasting labs at noon tomorrow in the neighborhood clinic. News to me and after digging into the labs 1/2 were signed by my Endocrinologist and 1/2 by the GP. After calling the Endo (friend of Terry’s) she said requested by Mayo. Good news then that Mayo is planning to see me and probably soon.

The plan tonight is to have the Bears on the IPadPro at the bench while I try to finish 2 diesel locomotives. I can’t remember the last Sunday evening I did some weathering. Usually I have music on while I weather but I do want to know how the QB for the Bears does.

Be well

Good evening to all including fans of Da Bears.

Another beautiful day. Cooler and breezy compared to Saturday. Spent more leisure time outdoors today, than I / we have all summer. Da Gi'nts lost to the Redskins, The Ravens played a terrible game vs. the Raiders, The Jets beat the Titans, The Orioles and Mets lost, the Bronx baseball team beat Boston. How did your Sunday go?

I spent a good part of the day in the train room, running trains on the Reading side, and building my industrial complex.

Read a article about the Harvest Moon also a Super Moon, for Tuesday Night, Wednesday Morning. Next article was about tropical rainfall, Tuesday Night and Wednesday. Around here, every celestial event is accompanied by clouds or rain. Need to get the fall fertilizer down tomorrow, so it can be watered in.

RDG RS3 (462+) at Lansdale Sept 1962 Gerry Meyle Sr..jpg

This photo from the Gerry Meyle Sr collection, is RDG RS3 462+one, at Lansdale Pa in September 1962. The train is a Philadelphia - Bethlehem run. last two cars are a baggage and a RPO - Baggage. Mail service on the Reading had about nine more months to go, and the RDCs were on the horizon. Trains and consists like this are what attracted me to my interest in the Reading. Note the Atlantic service station to the right behind the train.
