Welp... noticed we had no water pressure in our building. But, I know the end unit has the shut off for the entire building. If they start a project, they don't always get the correct valve. But, no one home in that unit.

So I went on a walk. Saw Robert and Daphne. Robert is human, Daphne is a chihuahua. Daphne had no clue, but Robert said there was an issue over by the main road through the complex.

the chipmunks in our neighborhood got really thirsty, or the pipe is 50 years old.

Our maintenance guy has our plumbing excavator guys out. The city water is standing by. They'll take over if it's the main. If it's one of our, well, we get to pay for the repair.

The joy of condo living.

67° in Lakewood right now. Clear, calm wind. Another beautiful late summer afternoon, this one a tad warmer. Grass from seed is growing, so are the weeds. They have to coexist until I can cut it several times, then I can spray the weeds.

I did run a few trains, my, (previously pronounced dead), Rapido RS-11 is performing well, after I removed the hand brake chain. It's a nice detail feature but it was causing all sorts of little problems. I also reset, and reprogrammed the decoder. Runs nice now.
My best consist, is two Walthers Mainline F7s back to back. outstanding performance. The only problem is when setting up the consist, I accidentally shut the horn and bell off. Was supposed to work on the leader either end. back to the program track.
,
Right now, I'm running mostly Penn Central locos and cabins. Orioles won 👍, the Yankees Lost 👍, Villanova beat Towson (barely), 👍 UNC Chapel Hill Won 👍. Mets lost to Phillies and Braves badly beating Dodgers 👎💩. Oh, Yea, Tide Rolled over Wisconsin, and GA Dawgs are losing to Kentucky 6-3 at the Half.

Joe, if you consistently (no pun intended) run those two engines back to back together, you can program one to run in reverse, turn the horn and bell off, and use the same road number. No consisting needed.

Terry: Right but LocProgramer permits one to dive deeper into the LokSound decoders, and consist without the hassle of speed matching et all. Right now I have three other consists sets, that are are running with Digitrax decoders, that bump and grind more than I like. This pair is near perfect. I just forgot to turn on the Horn and bell.

Good Morning All. Looks like clear and 72°. NWS must have egg on their face after forecasting triple digits for yesterday for several days, and then dropping it Thursday; it only made it to 92° yesterday thanks to the lingering cloud cover all day. That's the forecast for today and most of next week. They're going for the rain dance on Saturday.

Yesterday was basically "brush" day here, as I cut, gathered and hauled a couple of carts of twigs and trimmings from different sites to the main brush pile. At some point next spring, I'll pay the local pros to come by with their industrial grade shredder to make it all into mulch. I've cut about as much kindling as I need already.
I am at a point where I had to decide whether or not to add more water to the pool! I had been hoping for a little rain, but it didn't happen. 700-800 gallons should take me through another week, but it has the potential of cooling the pool down for a day or two. I checked the tap water yesterday and it's 61°. 800 gallons is almost 6% of capacity.
Today is partially indoor chores, the dishwasher awaits me and bed linens are after my nap. If it's still cool after church, I will cut some wood. I had to order a part for the door on the fridge yesterday, as it doesn't close all of the way on it's own. We bought it in 1991; I've replaced the icemaker twice and the water hose once. It's quite durable.

Received news yesterday that my 17 year old grandson was named a National Merit Scholarship Finalist for 2024-2025. He's the one who used to fix all of his teachers phones and laptops in Junior High.

Out in the train shed yesterday, I finished up the weeds around the adult bookstore and moved to a project on my small project list. I had a spot behind a feed store and grain elevator that was between 2 other projects and never got scenery.

Specifically I'm only referring to the area between the two tracks, there's ground cover on both the left and right. The area at the top of the picture is still an undecided place right now.

Another project off the list.

Louis - Are you on vacation? You have been posting at unusual (for you) hours lately.
Karl - Continued best wishes for your coworker and her husband. Your story and that of Terry's should be an inspiration to them.

Everyone have a great Sunday.

You know about setting cv52 on Digitrax, right? That sets movement/momentum in consist. I have to see if I can find my notes, but I think it's 128.

took a walk this morning once it was light enough to see.

Water main is still bubbling. There are no excavators in the area. But a fresh crop of cones is up around the "fountain"

WMS??? Water Main Service????

If I were to hazard a guess, it probably is the city's main. And now we wait on them to fix it?

Good Morning All!
47F @ 80% and overcast. Been raining for the last 3 / 4 days with the sun peeking once-in-awhile.

Dumb: Boy, guess that I still am. Started with Roadrunner's, Charger's and others of the good stuff. I did get an S10 for my commute from Snohomish, Wa to Seattle although it did have the 4.3 in it. Got a Geo Metro early 90's and with that thing, you got more smoke from the clutch than you could ever get from the tires. I found that I did not like cars that you 'put on' instead of getting in. From there moved to 4x4's; 68 GMC, 78 F150, 01 F350 dually 7.3. Now have 455 Blazer, 5.3 Expedition and a lowly Nissian. Haven't had time to sell the Nissian as I still don't like it. Still eyeing a Bronco II to replace the Nissian, but that might not happen until spring.

I was sitting in traffic the other day, probably why I got ran over.

Angela has the South room almost clear of her craft stuff. She is piling up orders for Mugs, Shirts and trinkets. Have seen some of her previous work so I am not worried about her. She does good for a one armed girl and is pretty talented when it comes to the artsy stuff. Wish I was the same - art to me is stick men and women with wire frame houses and trees.

Looks like we are in the final stretch into winter around here. Don't have that much to do to get ready, although it does take time. Pellets are becoming an issue. 2 of the 3 places offer delivery, but have no way to get the 1 ton pallets off of their truck. Go figure. Think I found a guy that will come over and move them to where I want when they show up. We will see.

Scientists were watching the Earth spin. After 24 hours of rotation, they gave up and called it a day.

Later

Good morning from the start of a busy day in So. Central Wisconsin. It’s 61f degrees now with 89 the guess for this afternoon. The hit and miss T-storms for late evening yesterday and then overnight never happened. The NWS has rain chances at 7% most of today and dropping below 5% in the evening. So we’ll be dry…

Lots of blue in the patchy skies today, I don’t see a smoky haze, right now.

This morning the grandson has a Fall season soccer game in the stadium down the street. This afternoon he has an ice hockey game in the arena in town. Between each game but overlapping the end of soccer and the beginning of the hockey is the Packer game minus Love the starting QB who got hurt with 6 seconds left in that game in Brazil. Not a real bother to me but it is to Terry.

Interesting as I see the headlines scroll across the bottom of the TV monitor Terry is watching. TikTok goes to court tomorrow. Funny to me, a USA based company let’s say YOU TUBE goes into China and has many throttle applied to basically censorship! That’s ok and Google goes along with it. But in the land of the free, censorship is frowned upon. When the US decides that this is a potentially dangerous company we have to go to court. I’m sure tomorrow the judge will just move the case to another date, you know the great American system to allow the lawyers more billable hours…

I watched some of the debacle called Wisconsin football yesterday. It’s an excuse to look for the daughter and hubby on TV with the grandkids (this is year 9 and it has not happened yet) but now we have the added excitement of the neighbor twins who are in the student section. Unbelievably we saw them just before 1/2 in the game 3 they are students at the UW. Terry records so we were able to run the video back a few times and then I took a picture of the screen. Their parents have seats right next to the daughter and SIL. Printed it out and gave it to them when all 4 arrived to pick up the kids after the game.

I am slowly getting some weathering done. I broke down the freight cars into 7 batches of 5 cars each. But it’s been slow! I also have been working on 3 diesels that are just faded for now. My next self imposed shipping deadline is 10/15, but that was to leave for the 1st of 3 golf events. At the rate my strength is coming back, I doubt I’ll be able to walk 18 holes. If I can get my regular walking 1 mile time back to 20 minutes I might chance it. I know that the Mayo Clinic received the referrals but other than an acknowledgement copied in email, nothing has been heard from them by me. It will be a week Tuesday!

Be well

Waiting on the city water dept to show up.

Our water comes from the river systems, and it definitely smells “fishy” right now. So no cooking, ice, drinking etc. We need the water towers to get caught up.

Unfortunately, the water around the break is running clear now. That means the big mature trees it’s near are probably well washed underground. Not sure what to do to stabilize the trees so we don’t lose them in the next storm.

Sorta depends on how deep the mains are. I assume that yours are much deeper than mine since they probably need to be below the frost line. Maybe not depending on how large they are. Out here in the middle of nowhere, the main along our road is 3" and is just 18" below ground level. The ones along the main{???} roads are 6" and are 24" underground. All of our water comes from wells.

Good (late) afternoon all. It is raining. Granddaughter did not want to go home. She never does.

A glass of Italian wine please, Flo.

A crane seen at Beamish Museum, County Durham, U.K.
(Sorry for poor quality of picture. It was absolutely pouring with rain. A poor picture better than none.)
