I have to figure out how to post photos from the phone. Haven't figured that one out yet.
If you are able to take them, just download them when you get home, and post them then.
Heard on th sat radio coming down yesterday that there was a survey done by California residents and 76% have thought about moving out of the state.
The bad thing is that they are all moving to states like Montana and Texas; we don't want them and they turn the politics too far to the blue side. Same with some of the Northeast residents.

Here’s some pics of my O Scale Piggybacks I took the other day seems there’s not a lot of O scale here but I enjoy both worlds but HO is getting harder to work in with my age

Good Morning Everyone: Heavy rain early last night with stream, roads and low land flooding with maybe five inches of rain on top of the several inches during the day. I didn't look, but our rear yard which is lower that the where the house sits, usually floods for several days after heavy rainfall.

Ken: Hopefully the stairs will be soon. I have handrails on each side of the steps. I already walked a mere four feet without aid which I think is a milestone.

Louis: Speaking of World Series games I was lucky to have gone to the I believe 1957 World Series with the former Milwaukee Braves playing the Yankees. I had a banner from the game that is one of the rare ones but can't find it. The Braves won the series in seven games. We also went to the 2001 World Series game in Phoenix and watched the Diamond Backs play the Yankees. The game was just after 911 and the security was extremely high.

Last night's game I wonder why Hader was in relief when he was a major reason for another lost in another game just last Saturday. Simple mistakes in fielding can cost a team a game and Championship as the Brewers proved last night. Maybe next year....close two years in a row.

Terry: Thanks for the Ebay lead on the Scale Trains locomotive.

No other train news to report.

Regards.....

Greg

Watched the last few innings of the Milwaukee/Washington BB game. That was a Really Big Show as Ed Sullivan used to say - WOW - pretty exciting! I recorded the game, but after getting home with only the last three innings remaining - I just decided to finish it off.
Now I worry the Nationals will be at a disadvantage vs LA, with their top 2 starters having worked in the wild card game. That could expose their weakness, the bullpen.

Louis & Sherrel: Not for nothing, but I expected the baseball season to end last night, when I checked the score before bed, then this morning, I learned my season had a reprieve, at least for another round. The Nats have finally found their reliever, Steven Strasburg.
I knew, that by going to over the air TV reception, I would not be able to access the MLB playoffs on TV, but in the New York market, none of the usual radio outlets carried the game. Not exactly the best way to grow interest in the series.

On a related note, I have my first Internet Only Cable bill. $67.45, vs $ 193.57, in August, mostly for programs I get over the air, and receiver hardware.
The downside, is that I couldn't access TBS to watch last night's game.

Hockey opens tonight, For reasons stated above, I will not get to see the Capitals open at St. Louis, but I will get to watch Ottawa @ Toronto, and Vancouver @ Edmonton, if I can stay awake that long. Go Leafs Go!

I have been working on three separate structure projects, the Meat packing plant's customized cattle pen, my attempt at the Reading Market St. Freight house and the Pier 7 warehouse. Updated photos will follow. I have pretty much come up with creative solutions to the problems I encountered, so things are starting to move along.

Yes, Greg- you are correct. The Braves beat the Bronx Bombers in 1957(& lost in 58). The Yankees went to the Fall Classic 10 times between 1947 & 1958. All of the rest(except one) were Subway Series. The exception was at Shibe vs the Whiz Kids featuring Richie Ashburn in ‘50.

Ok fellers. I figure I've lurked long enough. Haven't had much going on lately. Working for the most part. Getting tires put on my truck and surviving the heat wave. I do hope everyone is doing well. I suppose I'll keep following along with y'all when I get a chance to stop by. I'll leave off of here with some old coal camp photos for y'all to enjoy.

Howdy .....

twforeman ...... Very good to see your progress with your layout.

IB Ken ...... Glad to hear about good results from the doctor. Good news ! ...... I like the steel mill photo .

WIllie ...... I like the circus scene.

Justin ..... Thanks for sharing the old photos of coal mining in WV.

Louis .... Thanks to you also for sharing your photos.

Truc-Train ..... I like seeing your O scale piggyback equipment. .... Great job with the reefer.

My old Mantua Swift reefers are in this photo. I changed to better quality trucks and installed body mounted Kadee couplers. I changed the car number for one of them. Then, I weathered them ...... The GN reefer had a similar upgrade.

Good afternoon. Made it to Lost Wages (I DO NOT gamble (much)). Having lunch right now. The venue is at the Mandalay Bay Resort & Casino. I am slightly intimidated by all of the goings on and it will most likely ramp up once the auction starts. I not only registered as a seller, but also as a buyer, but I haven't really seen anything that I really want yet, but all of the vehicles aren't here yet. I only found one of mine so far as they are spotting them in different places according to what kind of vehicle it is.

Willie - I usually just email any photos I take to myself and then down load them to different albums on my computer. I thought that I took my wife's i-pad but apparently did not pack it. Guess I get the golden dipstick award for that.

Justin - Like the photo with the little girl. Nice photos

Garry - Nice shot of the meat packing plant.

Lunch just appeared so we are going to enjoy and then take in the sights.

Can I ask... Who is Running Bear?

Jeffrey Wimberly (Running Bear) .... Was a popular member of several model railroad forums. He passed away about three years ago. He was very proud of his Native American heritage. His mother was a full blood Cherokee. ..... In the hobby, he liked to create free lance models of diesel locomotives, and sometimes called himself "Dr. Frankendiesel "...... Nice guy. I spoke with him on the phone a few times....

Between a few errands for a refill and cooling off some.

RANDY - If you wish you can go back a few years and read some of Jeffrey;s musings. He was a big fan of the first Apple computers and had a truck load of stuff that he kept fooling with.
His diabetes eventually did him in.. it was sad to watch the progression of the disease in his latter years.
It's too bad that Photo Puke screwed up his picture posting.
I just went back and pulled a random thread - if you wish to see him. Also we lost another member, Eric White, who came along about this time - I believe. You might see some postings of his as well.

Afternoon All,

Both Jeff and Eric have locations on my layout named after them. Left the house this morning at 08:30 and made it home at 3:00. Of course then it's unload the car and put it all away. Spent way too much $$$ today.

TrucTrain- Nice TOFC cars and really nice weathering on the deck.

Justin- Nice B&W photos.

Garry- I almost had the exact scene until I completely changed the siding.

Louis- Interesting streamliner.

twf- Nice scene.

Ken- Glad to hear that you're doing well. Nice layout pics.

I hope everyone has a good night.

Iron Belt Ken - I'm very glad to find to you are still alive and kicking.
If you get headed this direction again, I'll be happy to escort you around.

Got to go replace a broken bathroom sink at my daughter's house.
Looks like my BOLD is stuck, please excuse me.

Garry. Thanks for the complement and the in site for the thread name always liked this thread I should have been feeding this thread more but I just get so discouraged in HO scale due to my arthritis and my eyes with age. But I just will not give up on this scale it was my first love of Model trains and probably always will I just have to accept I can’t work as fast in this scale as I once did and re-group now and then.

I want to thank all of you for your likes and complements that has help me get the passion back for the HO scale I have so many ideas and projects to complete I hope you guys follow along. Thanks Lee

That looks great. Nice background and I see you like those Mantua cars also you did a great job on them

That Damned Diabetes.. ! I've been with it for 21 years now. So far I am still doing OK but I know it will get me in the end. I have lasted this long as I used to be built like Arnold in my construction working days. but after my stint with the State the work was way less taxing but I did not stop eating like I was pushing a 12,000 calorie diet of my earlier days I gave myself this damned taxing burden from my own lack of control and now that it is advanced I cant fix it if I tried but my diet is better. Funny but I'd bet that just like Jeffrey, I did not drink a lot nor do drugs. I did smoke for a few years but I was never a heavy smoker and that was 20 year ago now. It was the love of good FOOD that will get me in the end. SOAB..... !

Anyway it is great this section is named for him. Nothing to be sad about, other than missing his presence. I hope he did not die young. Life is tough on us all, and it seems he had a lot of fun and he made friends in here and I'd bet anywhere he went and he was also a model railroader. And that provides for a fuller life, indeed, all by itself...! What do any of us really expect other than one good long run around the track.

A big throw the hats in the air salute to Jeffrey. I did not know him but from what I see in here Ya did pretty good buddy.
Now I understand more about this group seeing his name memorialized. Ya just don't see that often.

Randy
Randy, Running Bear was about 55 when he passed on. Eric would be 59 this year, so they were about the same ages, or within a year of each other. My wife has had diabetes since 1997, and the side effects are causing a slow decline in her health. She had a stroke several years ago, and renal failure almost exactly a year ago.
Among other things, Running Bear liked to tinker with old vehicles, and managed to keep somereally marginal vehicles running long past their expiration dates. A decade or more ago, there was a chain of salvage yards named Bearly Used. I found an ad for them in an old newspaper, and I've been meaning to install a junkyard of that name as a nod to him.

Just a quick "drive-by" post for tonite...

Sherrell, thanks for chiming in about the "Big E" (Eric W.), I actually got to visit with him in person during my family's 2016 trip to 'Bama - his town was only a 3-hour drive from my SIL's summer house in Gadsden. Would have also visited Jeffrey if he had lived just a bit closer.

Over on the MR Coffee Shop, on each opening post, they have a list of all the now-departed members who were regulars when the Coffee Shop was first established, called the RIP Track (Garry knows what I'm talking about). I think it would be excellent if we could do something similar here for our own forum brethren who are no longer among us. Just have a text file with the list of names that Terry could paste-on at the beginning of each new month. Thoughts...?
