For me it’s the stress of life right now. I wake up and start thinking about something…
I understand, I've been there, we all have. When that happens to me, I try to focus on positive things and things that I control. If I have the energy, I will try to do something productive. Even minor accomplishments help to keep a positive attitude. If all that fails, I remind myself that I am never alone, my faith provides comfort, it is my "rod and my staff"

I used to use a Fitbit to monitor sleep patterns since it was small. Since it could also keep track of steps, I joined a little competition on the fitbit site. I wasn't really competitive since some of those folks were crazy high mileage types. I made an innocent comment about needing to get my hand going (since it is a wrist watch) and one of the girls came back "eek too much info"! Had a good laugh!

What does the “TF card” look like?

Now I bet that would be good!

How does Moose compare to deer in terms of taste? Fairly similar I would think.
Moose and Elk are completely different from Deer or Antelope. Bigger animal, so slower moving. As with any shot venison, if it had been running and the adrenaline is active, you are going to have a 'gamey' taste. Can't git rid of it by hanging longer either. Best bet is to shoot them dead while grazing; you do not want it to run because you missed a critical organ. Head shot is best. Think about it, if takes off running because you missed, then you have to pump another round into them, then have to go and find it. Meat clean up is now a chore and the adrenaline was flowing. Another factor is gutting and cleaning. Has to be done immediately if not sooner. No waiting around for a 'better place'. Lots of water to remove blood and other fluids from everywhere in the empty cavity. You can wait for skinning and most do as it protects the meat during transport. If you happen to hit the pee bag, that will taint the meat also although immediate cleaning and washing will help. I used to shoot running animals and gave up as there are so many around here, I realized that I have time. If somebody brings you a shot dear to deal with and you find out it was running, jerking it is the only way as making it into sausage or hamburger it will taste gamey. Dog food!

I have cooked Deer steak pretty rare and the person(s) eating could not tell, and thought it was a darker beef! A couple of years ago, a 6x6 wandered into the back pasture. I scoped him and he was a beauty; good coat and weight, so bang. Heart and Liver were terrible; looked good on the outside, but tough and not pliable at all; although the rest of the meat was good. To me, good venison liver is better than Beef but needs to be cooked within a few days of harvesting.

Oh and I forgot to mention Bear sausage is good if it is prepared correctly. Most Dear and Antelope sausage mix is usually combined with pork fat because they are so lean. Moose and Elk have that extra fat so no worry there.

Happy harvesting!

Good morning from Wisconsin where at 5:37am it’s 45 heading to 55f degrees sometime this afternoon. Looking at the grass and the expected temperature the next 10 days it needs to be cut for sure this weekend. Maybe then I can get it ready for Winter. The snowblower has been ready it’s just a matter of taking its cover off and switching places with the mower.

Got another diesel weathering job out the door late afternoon yesterday. There is one more to finish hopefully today but for sure Friday. Waiting for payment for 2 more that are packaged and ready. Slowing my commission weathering jobs down has really opened up my time during the day. Talking amongst my weathering group I had to back off, many of them are just plain old slow. There are a few saying they are still going gang busters and I believe at least 3 of them as their work is stellar. So the combo of purposely backing away has worked but based on what I read from many others it may have happened anyway. I have 40 freight cars to weather by 12/15 and that the last few years would have been considered nothing.

I cut the walls out for an engine shed

The sketch above was Ai created with my input. 16’x 42’, HO scale. I cut out the styrene pieces it says I need and the Tichy windows and door it recommends are sitting at the LHS waiting for me to pick them up. It’s the engine shed for the 1965 era PNW paper mill I’ve designed for a friends layout. I’ll put it together this morning

CambriaArea51 that’s a great picture of your plow truck. Enjoy the Winter season Tom. In Wisconsin the guessers are saying really cold little snow. But Sunday on of the morning media guessers was saying there are other “model” saying Northern Wisconsin and So Central (me) are going to get pounded with snow. We shall see

Enjoy the day

Good morning all!

Happy Hump Day!

Slept much better last night than the previous night.

Should be another fairly nice late fall day today. Temps are currently at 50F heading up to a high of around 61F.

A few household chores this morning to get done.

Have a new washer and dryer being delivered today. We have had off and on trouble with the washer for the last couple of months
and decided it was time. The old ones served us for many years.

Have a safe day everyone!
